It looks like it could cost a minimum of $580M (to buy >50% of stock) and maybe as much as $2B (total assets of the company).

That's a fair amount of money...

So 50% would be about $1.87B today. But if someone like Soros started a hostile take over, that number could easily increase by 50-100%.
