...if you're into that sort of thing....
i guess we can't stop using windows software in large numbers just yet, but i'll bet microsoft donates to the democrats too.

give up wal-mart? is that even humanly possible? i don't know, i've never been brave enough to try it.

but i bet if we just picked one, and focused in on it, and stop buying their tainted products made by slaves in other nations, for a specific period of time.

no sane human being likes coors beer anyway, so all democrats and liberal whackos could stop drinking coors for one year. coors would actually feel the pain, in the pocket book.

maybe, hell i don't know, i'm just a schmuck consumer statistic.

1. Someone else pointed to a site yesterday...
Forgot the link but it showed M$oft donating more than 50% to Democrats and somewhat less than 50% to Republicans.

2. Most corps donate to both parties
to hedge their bets. They want to assure they own all politicians.

9. Yes, but if enough of us...
stop buying their products this will force them to give us more media exposure, force the networks to present the liberal viewpoint in an unbiased way. If nothing else, just a few of us can cause them a financial pinch so that they will realize that we are not just going to bow our heads and accept the inevitable.

5. I gave up Walmart a year ago
and let my Sam's Club membership lapse. Now I belong to Costco, which pays and treats its workers much better. I shop at yard sales, flea markets, and if I can afford to, Target.

I feel much, much better knowing our money is not supporting the scum who own almart.

From what I've read recently, the international effort to boycott US products such as MacDonalds and Coke is having considerable impact abroad. This boycott was launched after the Iraq war began.

7. Check Out This Thread
Deny the RW funding for their agenda by considering EVERY purchase you make. Altering our 'consumerist' mindset won't be easy, but very worthwhile.

Operating System
We tried Red Hat Linux again at version 7.1, and we were amazed at how easy it was to install. I've got over 16 years of IT experience, and even I felt like some of the earlier versions were just too much of a pain to get running. If you're able to install Windows yourself, you are more than capable of installing the newer versions of SuSE or Red Hat.

We're using SuSE 9.1 now, and it's GREAT. If you have a spare machine, you might enjoy trying it out before doing anything to your primary PC. You can download it for free from SuSE at http://www.suse.com/us/private/download/suse_linux. You can also buy the personal edition from somewhere like Amazon for $24.99. We have our machines set up as dual boot -- when the PC boots, you get the choice of starting Windows 2000 or Linux. It was not difficult at all to do.

Office Suite
Take a look at Star Office 7 and Open Office. Star Office retails for around $80, and its cousin, Open Office, can be downloaded for free at http://wwws.sun.com/software/star/openoffice/index.html. In the word processor, you can save files in Word and RTF format to share documents with people who are still using Microsoft Office. You can also export directly to Adobe PDF. In my spare time, I'm a writer, and I absolutely love using the word processor in Star Office. The suite also contains a spreadsheet program and some graphics programs.

Edit: In fact, I'm willing to help people with figuring out if a move to Linux and/or Star Office would be practical for them. If you have questions, PM me. No, I don't make any money from this kind of thing, and my advice is 100% free. :-)
