the subject of Religion seems quite dominant here lately..... |
|
and it ain't just me griping ceaselessly either, it's a lot of pissed of folks, including a lot of christians, who are mad that their religion has been hijacked by the talibornagains.
all last year, the subject has been highly charged, and lots of flaming has occurred and lots of feelings hurt. but, we've learned a lot of things too.
i think now, more than ever, we need to identify a real danger to our republic, religious zealotry and mind control.
right on, viva la resistance

always has the potential of allowing the larger population an excuse to treat the minorities in an inhuman manner. I think that DUers have been able to identify that risk quite well.

3. My views on religion...................... |
|
are not well accepted, but I believe the religionazis have crossed the line between church and State and should seriously have their tax exempt status scrutinized. This will certainly not happen while "God's Messenger" is in the White House though.

4. Those who identify as Christians have a responsibility.... |
|
to speak out against the Christian Totalitarians. I don't see that happening. Not even here, really.
I want to hear loud and clear nation-wide: "I am a Christian, and what these people are doing is wrong...." well, you get the idea.

5. There is no difference |
|
Between a lunatic fringe Christian, Moslem, Jew, Hindu or any other religion. The extremists all want the same thing, control over how you think, act, live, etc. That's what makes them so dangerous to everyone near them. The history of theocracies in the world is not a pretty one.

6. Our party has had this little problem |
|
I am greatly concerned as all of you are.Our party needs to reflect. This does not mean to say we have been wrong and we have to grovel. Keep this in mind as I say the following. So you know where I am coming from, i grew up in the South but have lived in different places. I have family members from the "uppercrust" and yes some who could be called rednecks and evangelicals" Rich to lower middle I love them all--they are my family.
Now to our Dem Party. IMO our party has permitted those who are absolute in keeping religion out of the dialogue in our party prevail. Just as I have this weird family our party has many kinds of people. I can go on Website and when Reiigion is mentioned, the person can be made to feel they are being hit by a 2by 4. This is not to flame. I know and respect the fact there are non-believers and they have rights too. This is the way it was before the election. I am Catholic and tough--I just take the body blow and keep yakking. Many Democrats will not do this. My attitude is I am not going to force my Religion on anyone else and they are not going their anti- religious views on me. We all have to get along.
Our Partys' weakest link is the inabilty to immediately discern the tactics used by Republicans. and go for the jugular. We have this"I will not stoop to their level attitude" Like it or not to the Public and not as well educated this means or is interpreted as not having principles enough to stand and fight. Here is an example. The Republicans early on put out a flyer well illustrated with the Message . "Liberals will Ban the Bible and permit Men to marry men." Our Party not the Kerry Campaigne--Okur Party should have called together a group of Liberal Ministers Priests Rabbis as wll as our house and Senate Members and demanded TV Time to show that even as we defend the Separation of Church and State, there are Reigious Democrats. A one time only on TV is not enough This should have been maed into a Commercial illustrating the Divisness and and hkw this Damages our country. In the country there is now a belief --let to their own devices Liberals will ban the bible.
Fox News has rnning commentary on how Democrats are next to Satan a With their Secularism. There is a reason the Democratic Party is thought of as Godless. Just saying me too, i go to church is not enough.
This is getting to be much too long. I could say much much more. Please think about what I have said and take it with utmost of respect. There is an old country song--You have got to stand for something or you will fall for anything. Southerners are more interested in your standing for something you believe in than try to be like them. Our Leaders cannot seem to get this. Trangulation may work for the moment but it hurts over the long hall.
