Mad and exhausted
Am so mad. I am almost afraid to talk to people because I may just give them a little bit more than their pea sized, right wing, brain can process….

Okay you may remember - my nephew’s son was one of the marines killed in the car bomb attack on Oct 30. They live in Colorado and I am in Nebraska.

I called our local newspaper to see when they are going to publish their standard blurb – bio and picture - of the dead troops. After being put on hold far too long - the receptionist came back on line and said they put the info in the paper “when they have EXTRA room to publish it.” Shocked - I hung up.

Then I called my Mom and she was talking about the death and went on to say, “The funeral should be pretty nice, they’ll get a flag all nice and folded, the military boys will be there in uniform – and Andrew was featured in a full page article in his local paper…”

I told her I was too mad to talk about it, and hung up. That I can almost let pass, my mom is 85 years old and believes ** is a nice man and you respect – not question your government.

Is any good news coming? I really feel like the democratic leadership just left us hanging on the edge of a cliff. Any hope of a safety net?

And I do appreciate DU. Thank you for being there for me.

1. sometimes i wonder
if Bush somehow put a weird spell on people and we just so happened to be immune to it? Or maybe he put the spell on people thru t.v. because whenever he comes on t.v. I turn the channel..and it's a good thing or maybe I would have turned into one of those Bush loving zombies.

Everytime I see a picture of another American soldier that died in Iraq I want to scream and cry! I don't understand this and can only hope that God steps in at some point and helps us. But he will only help those who help themselves so we must continue our fight!

Oh and I know what it's like to have a Bush supporting mom (who also thinks you can't speak bad about America or the president in time of war)

3. apparently gay marriages are more threatening
than thousands of dead soldiers and innocent Iraqi civilians. I cannot explain it but it surely does make me feel sick

2. Unbelievable...
My town's paper does huge coverage of MT's killed or wounded in action - then again, they endorsed Kerry.

I'm really sorry about your loss - I hope you're finding some comfort here. I guess we have to be here for each other since our "leaders" aren't speaking.
