There are some really opportunistic Mo Fo's on here... |
|
no disrespect meant at all..but its kind of dis-heartening to see people you assumed were guided by something more than pragmatism completely change gears in less than a week...
bill clinton who was our "saviour" and "big dog" is now be bashed as a traitor and being accused of complicity for specking his mind.
and ralph nader who was a "pariah" on here just last week is now our "savior" and "the man" for specking his mind.
come on people get it together...flame away if you must but it's not me whos doing this, just pointing it out.

1. I really never thought of Clinton as my "Saviour" or the "Big Dog" he |
|
was just a man who happened to be president. He pissed me off on the Welfare Reform Bill, but all in all he was a good president. But, I don't hang on his every word. Only freepers sanctify their leaders....:hi:

10. So you'll be okay then if I continue to think that Mr Clinton is an |
|
opportunistic idiot at this point, right? I have no representation in this country anymore. I hope I get a pass for being angry.

15. I liked Clinton as President |
|
I didn't like his way of doing business. He was too opportunistic. I wanted Kerry to win because he stood more on principle, at least in his younger days. I hoped that his inner hero would manifest itself after his election.
Sadly, that isn't the case. The Commander-in-Thief is still there and his reign shaping up to become more evil than ever. Clinton's "get over it" speech helps feed into Bush's desire to crush our will. I do not accept Clinton's words, nor do I take kindly to them.
Bill Clinton could have stood and fought with us, but he chose the path of ease and expediency. Kerry did pretty much the same with his concession speech. I am left utterly disillusioned with the Democratic party.

I agree 100%.
I understand everyone's disappointment and recognize that an anonymous bulletin board is a great place to vent, but the attitudes shown here by a lot of posters is disappointing.

8. I think it's perfectly fair. |
|
Clinton, in my opinion, made an ass of himself. I don't consider him a traitor, but I don't agree with him at all. Nader, on the other hand, is doing what Nader does best - agitating and challenging the status quo. I respect him for that (despite my disagreeing with his presidential bid).
I'm not sure why that is considered "opportunistic".

12. this is the fork in the road. |

either you are with freedom and democracy or you are not.
we may have deep political differences but this goes beyond politics, beyond partisan bickering.
If someone supports this coup, when the evidence is overwhelming, they are not, by definition, for democracy. The one pillar which all of democracy relies upon is the vote.
Either you protect the vote or you are against America.

13. Doesn't this prove that we are in fact guided by principles |
|
One man has abandoned them, one man has resumed fighting for them.
Unlike republicans we are guided not by the cult of personality but by the actions of individuals.

17. Well first off, none of the guys have ever been my savior |
|
I was ABB in 92, 00, and 04. Clinton, Kerry, Nader, are not idols to be worshiped. They're simply people we've chosen - often in lieu of anything better - to do a job. When they are wrong, as all humans are from time to time, they can and should be called on it.

The good news is the "ignore thread" feature is back on so you'll no longer have to subject yourself to people airing their displeasure that they were betrayed.

19. If Bush has taught us anything, it is (sadly) that manipulation is the key |
|
to seizing power. Recognizing this and trying to apply it is not betrayal. Seizing power was essential, regardless of the cost.
We will pay far more dearly now.

I was never a Clinton groupie.
I was surprised and glad that Nader had the guts, unlike Kerry, to look into a possible legal situation.
