My Advice to Bill Clinton: Run Hillary in 2008 and See America |
|
for what it really is. If you think that this loss was because of a few tactical mistakes like Gay marriage in Mass., then run Hillary and you'll see what you're really up against. Understand that when you ran in 1992 and 1996, there was no Fox News, MSNBC was in its infancy, and CNN was a respected media source.
If you think that a Democrat can win higher office in this country, run Hillary in 2008. Okay. If you think that you're a badass and can win these folks over, run Hillary in 2008. Until then, SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!

I was proud of Clinton, and supported him through very trying times the past ten-twelve years. But if he truly told Kerry to abandon our Democratic principles, then he does need to keep quiet, and he certainly has fell down a notch or two on my respect-o-meter.

you will not like me then, because while i dont think we should abandon them, I DO think that we should regroup and take a breather on some of these issues.
ideals are great and necessary, and purity is to be commended, but the bottom line is, you cant make changes unless you are in power, and you cant get into power unless you are elected, and so long as a slim majority of the electorate is focused on god, guns and gays, we arent going to get into power by making advocation of gay marriage a central and dominant theme.
A tactical and TEMPORARY retreat may be in order.

didn't start by gays but by republicans.....maybe a group of "Log Cabin Republicans". They wanted an issue that would repulse their base.......they got one.
I agree with Bill Clinton based only on the fact it was not a democratic issue of this election......
Look at the timing....

4. If Jesus Christ ran, the RW and the slanted media would 'crucify' him |
|
I am getting tired of all the blame given to Kerry and the Dems over the election losses with not one mention of the pervasive RW media propaganda both on radio and TV. We not only have 90% of talk radio being RW, but PBS shifting right, Fox news blatantly RW plus RW Sinclair TV owning many other network affiliates and even CNN quite obviously bending over backward to criticize Kerry and spread the RW talking points while propping up Bush.
So far I have seen absolutely no questioning of the role of the media in controlling what stories dominated the news and may have shaped opinion.
It dismayed me how the media played along with the Rove and Hughes plan to distract from Kerry's strong debate performance and his solid stand on the issues by spending days attacking him over the Mary Cheney remark and then spending days more misrepresenting and in several cases totalling misquoting Teresa Kerry's remarks about Laura Bush to create a distraction from bad news that could affect Bush's popularity.
