AP: "Bush hopes to make tax cuts permanent"
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20041107/ap_on_go_pr_wh/second_term_taxes

WASHINGTON - Buoyed by a clear-cut election victory, President Bush (news - web sites) is pledging to make permanent the sweeping tax cuts of his first term and to simplify the nation's tax laws. The price tag on making the tax cuts permanent is more than $1 trillion, a daunting number in an age of record budget deficits.

At the same time, efforts to enact ambitious proposals to overhaul the tax system often fall victim to a ferocious assault from Washington lobbyists determined to protect special breaks for their clients.

While not discounting the challenges ahead, Bush's supporters are betting that the president will end up getting much of what he wants with the help of bigger Republican majorities in both the House and the Senate.

"Tax reform is a politically dangerous road to travel with a lot of corpses," said Stephen Moore, head of the Club for Growth, which supports an aggressive tax-cutting agenda. "But the president is very serious about this. He wants to make a major push for overhauling the tax system," Moore said.

5. On the plus side, he's helping his corporate friends who seek to
eliminate the middle class.

There will ultimately be NO homeland left to support.

4. When * is out of office is it possible for the next president
(if, G-d willing, it's a Democrat) to 'cancel' the permanent tax cuts?

9. * is cockier than ever. This sounds cold, but I hope all the idiots who
voted for Chimpy are happy when things get much, much worse. After all, it was so much more important to keep homosexuals from getting married than having healthcare for all Americans, wasn't it?
Puh-lease!

They'll have no one to blame but themselves for voting for Chimpy, and I guarantee, they'll elect Republican after Republican. They'll never learn.

10. Yep. The only consolation I have is that we know it is coming
those dumb mother truckers don't have a clue. We are preparing for what is going to happen while they are all to busy waving their flags. They are running into a brick wall with their eyes wide open.

I guess they think when social security goes bankrupt, there will be a safety net for republicans. I guess they think if they lose a job due to outsourcing there will be an equal paying job just for republicans. I guess they think if the draft comes back they will only target liberals. They don't yet realize we are all in this sinking ship together.

I agree, I know it sounds cold but I hope they all get what they deserve.

11. It sucks living in a red state when you voted blue. I'm glad my city
voted 70 percent for Kerry, though (go Richmond!).

12. With your help I am sure!
See, we need people like you in the red states! Hard work usually pays off and maybe next time you will have 80% instead of 70%!

13. My parents and sisters live in Newport News, which I heard also
went for Kerry as did Hampton and Norfolk (VA).

14. YEAH!
I like to think that after 4 more years of the same, many states that were red will turn blue. By 2008 this country *should* be sick to death of republicans. Especially if we head into the abyss, like I think we are.

Here's to hope!:toast:

(hope for turning red states blue and not hope for the abyss. Just needed to clarify so I don't make anyone mad!)
