I've been a minority all my life

They told me I was a minority
But when I look around the world, that's not what I see
In this country I'm relegated to that status
One that I know that's not for me

Despite whatever happened, both good and bad
They never dealt the killing blow.

Yes, we're still here, still alive and kicking
And remember all their crimes that we know we see

He's an African American physician who has worked his entire adult life to deliver basic health care to people in greatest need. He lives in a red city in one of the reddest states in the nation, and he never gives up.

After talking with him earlier this week I felt ashamed to be moping.
