Which of our standard bearers will speak up....
in response to Rove and say that republican values that rip apart the social safety net, devalue our seniors, ignore the environment, leave children without healthcare, and support the idea that all of us are not created equal are contrary to a hopeful and decent society?

Which of them will do that? Because that is what we need to do, day after day after day. Respond and reframe the debate. They don't have to go on TV to champion gay marriage, they just have to decontruct the notion that the most hateful people in the country are somehow the epitomy of a values based America. BECAUSE GUESS WHAT? They are not. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Which one will get up and say that -- now, today?

Not a goddamned one of them. THAT is why we lose. Right there. Period.

1. The silence is rather deafening.
All I remember from this week is Pelosi singing how Democrats have Christian beliefs and Clinton saying our views are "not necessarily in conflict" with Republicans.

5. Exactly, and therefore look like the cowards
their opponents say they are. You know what though - we do have the power. The whole democratic party is all atither about the new fundraising power of the internet. EVERYONE of us needs to send a message - you want cash from me, then stick up for me and my beliefs. Otherwise, take a hike.

7. We Must Do It
Our leaders have deserted us.

We must write letters to the editor of our paper. Try not to make them full of rancor or naive bewilderment (even though we now have much of those feelings)

What is moral about deceiving the American public to start a
pre-emptive war in which thousands die?

Why is it morally acceptable to provide a tax cut for the wealthy while eliminating or reducing funding for after-school and Head Start programs?

How is it considered moral to pollute the beautiful earth God gave man (and woman) as a gift? If you gave some one a generous gift and they were careless with it, destroying it, wouldn't you be hurt or angry?

Those of us who are really Christian should quote the bible, all the things Jesus said about caring for the poor. The religious Jews should include the passages about leaving the corners of the field untilled. The Muslims should stand up and say they are not terrorists just because they worship Allah and share the loving aspects of Islam.

We must start this campaign ASAP and not let up. We should try to avoid wading into those contentious wedge issues like abortion and gay marriage. We will never, ever convince anyone that those are ethical, but neither should we abandon our beliefs on those issues. For too long we have allowed the worst and most narrow elements of the Republican Party to frame the debate. When asked about gay marriage or gays adopting children, our candidate should respond with the number of children living in poverty. Not answering the question? Marginalize the issue. Without being so crude, why are we spending so much time discussing two guys kissing when 50 million Americans have no health insurance? If we took the time and energy we spend on whether abortion should be outlawed and spent it working to reduce poverty...

What do you think of having a special forum or forums. One would be if a DUer gets a letter in the paper. We should share such accomplishments and inspire others. Two (this would be tougher) a whole forum for Morality Issues and why Democrats have it right. This would provide suggestions for those of us who want to write letters to our papers, but need some material.

Who is with me?

8. If LTTE could do it, Bush would already be gone
People watch TV, and the TV stations have to have dems on or it becomes a circle jerk, and cable news likes controversy.

I have a better idea - if our leaders won't stick up for us we should run for office. That's how cons took over. The started at the local level and worked their way up over 2 decades. If we want to take our country back we better get started right now.
