I was so angry at the election results, yesterday I did the unthinkable.

I threw a desk-sized American flag in the garbage as a protest to what has happening. I lost faith in half of America for what it did Nov 2. I am too old to tantrum, but I was so angry that I was forced to do what I did.

Will you forgive me?

If you are someone who thought that you fought for the flag, you have been fooled. You fought for the people of this country and the institutions which make it great. Not a piece of cloth.

The flag is a symbol of nationalism. Those who worship it are narcissists.

17. Funny thing

today while driving down the freeway I was really noticing all the flags flying (most of them outside car dealerships) and wondering whether Bush really understands the meaning of it and respects it at all. It is supposed to represent all of the blood shed for our freedom from tyranny and our union. Look at what is happening now. What DOES the flag stand for now?

I'll forgive you. I'm a moderate who opposes many of the more extreme things said and done after Nov 2, but I do understand that there was a lot of emotional upset. I myself was VERY upset and said some regrettable thing the morning of Nov 3. This loss hurt a LOT, and it shook our faith in America. Only with the support of the whole community will we regain that faith... but we will.
