ahem sorry for shouting.
It's natural to speculate on who we should run next time, heck the media has been pushing Clinton since the ink dried on their "American Man Date" stories. Fugedabouddit. (That's how we talk in the evil, liberal northeast.)
If we don't stop the GOP from getting a supermajority in the Senate in 2006, it won't matter who our nominees is next time. If they can invoke cloture (stop filibuster), we will have no voice. We must find candidates that can win Senate seats up in 2006 and then make sure that electronic voting boxes don't take the chance away for them to BE elected. Point B, if we don't get the Democrats we HAVE to act like Democrats and fight Supreme Court nominations that will overturn the last thirty years of history, 2008 won't matter anyhow. Just sayin'. Carry on. :)

2. Clean up the 5 million tons of sh*t now, or in 2008 it's 50 million tons |

2008 is a pipe dream. It's really now or never. 2006 will be difficult enough with the draft going in full swing, war with Iran and/or Syria ...
Ugh. Must stop. Getting depressed.

3. We need to worry about 2008. |

But first thing's first. We need to worry about 2006 first. 2006 is within our sights and we need to focus on it now and then worry about 2008.

But we definitely need to focus some serious energy on winning a few seats in the Senate in 2006. I know that there will be a open seat in Texas. I suspect that is not the only place seats will be open. And do not laugh, it was not that long ago that Dems ruled Texas.
I say you start working on campaigns now. That might mean pleading with some serious people to run in those races.

forget about 2008, 2012, 2016.... forget about democracy, period. Honestly, it really will never matter again who we run. The fix is in.

10. I don't even know how we can plan for the future |

Let's face it, we don't know what the world is going to look like in four years.
In 2000, could we have accurately predicted any of the major issues of this year's election?
Accordingly, what is going to be relevant and important in another four years, in 2008?
The most radical and unpredictable president in history has been emboldened in victory and is now immune from public accountability. Even worse, the Democratic party has never been weaker in modern history, and has very little control over the decisions of the executive and legislative branches. The issues of 2008 will be impossible for us to anticipate because they will be determined by the Republicans' actions rather than our own.
I'm afraid that anything could happen.
