Hearing alot of "chatter" about Bobby Kennedy, Jr |
|
thru my state Yahoo Dem group....I don't think he really wants to get involved in politics that heavily...has anyone heard him say anything? The South hated JFK and RFK, but to the rest of the country, he could be viewed almost reverently.

1. RFKJr is heavily involved in the fight to protect our environment - I have |
|
not heard any of the chatter you have about him running for public office.
I believe he did use the word 'faschist' this week, in commenting on the apparent * re-election - Bobby Kennedy is a strong advocate and voice for our side.

2. I have an obscure question |
|
What's up with his voice, is there something physiologically wrong - I find the content of what he says profound and passionately expressed, but when he talks, it sounds like his vocal chords are damaged.

9. Thanks for that info about the medical disorder |
|
I used to think to myself his voice sounds like someone who's partied hard all night and is waking up with the worst hangover in the world. :)
That aside, I attended a lecture by RFK, Jr. on election eve and found him to be fierce, brilliant and later when I had the opportunity to briefly meet him during a book signing, very sweet. (His dad was my favorite Kennedy.)
An audience member told him he should run for POTUS during the Q&A portion of the evening. He just smiled a little smile and didn't say no, and didn't say yes.
Another audience member asked him what plans he had to work with a Kerry administration towards the environment -- he kept it real and said he hadn't had time to think about that, he's just concentrating on getting Bush out of office.
That would be the real problem with his candidacy -- he's far too real. He doesn't try to be a hero; if he didn't know something, he just said "I don't know." If he didn't want to do something (an audience member asked him to read the manuscript of a very technical book he'd just written) he didn't dress it up. He told the guy, "That's over my head, no thanks."
RFK Jr.'s book is difficult to read in one sitting, though. The corruption he details in Bush's EPA makes my blood boil, so I have to keep setting the book down and coming back to it a few pages at a time.

8. Yeah, he has a medical condition... |
|
Poor guy... it makes him sound like Doug Whiner or something... maybe it's the same thing Diane Rehm has.
I really think it's way too much of a liability for him to seek national office. I'm guessing with all the Kennedy money, it must be incurable. Maybe we can get him a transplant from Don Pardo or Harrison Ford or someone...

4. I saw him on Bill Maher a few weeks ago |
|
He was discussing the environment and mentioned some interesting facts regarding the fairness doctrine. Nothing regarding political aspirations. Did seem very likable and articulate.

6. He is a committed environmentalist |
|
RFJ jr. is very busy with environmental issues up and down the Hudson Valley and beyond. His politics seemed to be confined to those issues at this time.

The stuff in Bobby's past prevents him from running for pretty much anything. He might be able to get elected to Congress, but never any further. He's a good guy on environmental issues. That's where he can be most effective.
