Man dressed as terrorist with Kerry sign frightens voters

This is what Republican democracy looks like....

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) -- Just hours after receiving it, a judge threw out a Bedford man's complaint that Nashua police violated his rights, but it looks like police are looking into a complaint against the man.

Joseph Galibois says police violated his rights by threatening to arrest him when he dressed up as a terrorist and waved a Kerry for president sign outside a polling place on Tuesday. He said he was trying to illustrate his view that John Kerry was soft on terrorism.

Police ordered Galibois to get rid of a terrorist mask, fake gun and ammunition bandoleers because he was alarming people and causing a traffic hazard.

Meanwhile, Friday, police said a woman reported that a man dressed like a terrorist and carrying what appeared to be a rifle jumped in front of her as she drove in Nashua on Election Day. She said she was frightened because she thought the gun was real and had to swerve around the man. Police are investigating.

Terrorist poseur says his rights violated
A Bedford, N.H., man wants an apology and a couple hundred dollars from the Police Department. Joseph Galibois says police violated his rights by threatening to arrest him when he dressed up as a terrorist and waved a Kerry for president sign to drivers outside a polling place Tuesday. He said he was trying to illustrate his view that John F. Kerry was soft on terrorism. He was wearing a ski mask and ammunition bandoleers and carried a plastic squirt gun that resembled an assault rifle. Police said they ordered Galibois to get rid of the mask, gun, and bandoleers because of complaints that he was alarming people. Galibois filed a complaint Thursday in Hillsborough County Superior Court. In addition to the apology, Galibois says he wants $208 from the police sergeant who confronted him, a dollar for every Tuesday until the next election. (AP)
