Vetwife in shock after Preacher said NO PRESIDENT NEEDS TO CRAM RELIGION
down anyone's throat. It is not the Bible he reads from. No legislator, no judge, nobody should tell people how to live their lives. The government needs to get out of imposing their theology on the people. I will go back.......My husband came home and told me. They never ever talked politics but today they did on this Theocracry and hijacking Faith !

18. That's why one should read the Bible oneself. I am a Christian.
The RW fanatical evangelicals do not represent Chrits teachings. They represent the worst of the hypocrites and the kind of religious zealots that Christ taught against and even despised.

"The man who doesn't read has no advantage over the man who can't"

27. I am in shock..But my husband was not. They always were here
to help out with food and clothes and gifts at Christmas and the elderly but as the race tightned I got nervous and knew I could divide the church as they knew my politics. (small town) They sent me letter after letter and letter and cards wanting me back in the congregation and I said No. No answer other than I wanted to see where they stood before I would go back. I wanted Christianity and respect for other beliefs or non believers continue to come and I did no want to be disappointed and no one ever called but asked my kids and husband everyweek had I decided to go back and my husband said, She feels like her faith has been hijacked. He said that after last week's sermon. the said, But we never preached that and she said, she has turned away from buildings and not her faith. Today the message was clear. I was happy.

He preached about government hijacking faith and he didn't know what kind of christianity they are pushing but it was not his kind nor God's the way he intereprets the bible. Then he said Pharasees and hippocrites ! This is a big church !

I've had enough of this religious BS! I don't have a problem with other's religious beliefs, as they should not have a problem with my non religious beliefs. Your preacher got it right.

he told the congregation in a thunderous voice..a White man of middle age, don;t look to your President, or your Senator, for God, that is not not where you will find it !. I am tired of government telling people who is sinning and who is not. That is not their job. People of different faiths and different beliefs have every right to decide for themselves. america needs no government run Religion or so called christianity base at the White House !

Seen plenty of *brave" people speaking up all of a sudden...

No disrespect intended. I do appreciate the conviction of any and all finally finding their voices.

But, DAMN IT, why didn't they find them BEFORE Nov. 2nd??????

22. He was there and never mentioned politics as there are many many dems
in our church and did not want to mix church and religion. I quit going when the race tightened as I thought it would get mentioned and I would have to walk. Now I mean either way. I don't believe in pushin dems or repugs. I believe separation totally but today he seemed pretty upset that Bush claimed the christians put him in there and dissed the ones who voted the other way. HE has kept politics out of the church for all of this time. My husband said he was outraged as thinking one party had a hold on God !

20. We had a great experience on this Sunday, too!
Members of many of the faith communities, pastors, our peace group, and PFLAG all gathered tonight with the GLBT community for a candlelight vigil and speeches on God's love for all his children. The occasion was to pour in love with the arrival of Fred Phelps into our community today. Tomorrow, he will bring his hate as he and his members protest in front of a high school simply because a student there who happens to be gay was interviewed by the Washington Post a few months ago.

I wanted to counter protest but the candlelight vigil was a better alternative. It was truly moving. I'm so glad we got to share in it with our gay brothers and sisters.

Those of us who truly believe have your back!

It was wonderful to know there are churches and pastors in Tulsa of all places who refuse to preach the hate and bigotry against their neighbors! I thought I would never get to go to church again once I got down here and saw the hypocrisy that runs rampant.

25. Same thing happened at my g/f 's church.....they even talked about voter
fraud. Of course this is in Boulder.

I am agnostic...but I have to say:

"TRUE CHRISTIANS UNITE!"

You need to find other churches like this...and get them in touch with one another. If there were a couple million of you screaming together in unison...maybe your voice would be heard by the religious right.

They certainly won't listen to us "non-religion" folks.

You should start another thread...ask for the contact info for other churches with the same views. Talk to your local religious leaders. Get them to contact the other churches. Set up a network. March together.

Just throwing out an idea(er). ;)
