Is their anyone here who does not like Jesus?
I want to see if I can find some common ground here.

I get the feeling that 99% of us here really admire the simple loving teachings of Jesus as they are about as liberal as liberal can get. So our only differences are weather he was human a God or a myth, right? Or perhaps some are angry about how superstition's have lead to so much death and destruction over the course of human history. Me too!

I would also be willing to bet that just as with Thomas Jefferson who admired Jesus even though he thought he was human, most of of tend to think most of the corruption of the Christian Religion came about from the Church and all it's power. So rather than fight over the Christian religion lets decide on what things we can agree on.

So do we all like the teachings of Jesus no matter if he was God or myth?

1. I do not see the fight as that against the teachings of 'Jesus, whether he
be God or myth' but rather the fight against those who would use religion as a cover for bigotry, racism, nazi-ism, etc. The neo-cons have figured out that using such a cover can help them achieve their goal and it is as simple as that. Anything else is a red herring, imo.

I do think god is a total cock.

"Mankind has cured most major diseases, put men on the moon, space probes into interstellar space, plumbed the oceans to their depths, created radio, TV, computers, the internet, unraveled the genetic code, and harnessed the power of the atom; all these wonders humans have achieved and yet we still cut our neighbors' throats over whose god has the biggest dick."__Professor Israel Shahak - Israeli Human Rights Activist - 1933~2001

has nothing to do with government, period. He said so himself. Whether or not I like him should have no bearing on how our country is governed.

6. i see jesus as the christ conscious within us
we all have christ conscious in side us, it is ours to hear or not. that is why when we hear a preacher use the bible or jesus words and twist them to ugly we can so easily hear it if we are tuned with christ conscious. we dont need a man, an inter
i dont know if jesus was man, if the stories of the bible are true. i know also it is ok if i dont know. there are a lot of things i dont know. doesnt matter, faith in jesus and divine plan is never in question. a life time of living and consistantly i have see an higher in all things, the purity in all things, that is what christ conscious is about. in purity, it brings all to stillness, no longer a battle a struggle in polarity, one side against another, in stillness is the peace. even in battle

9. The problem with Jesus..

...isn't Jesus.

It's man, and those who believe Jesus is on "Their" side, and speaks for them.

But, Jews do not believe in Jesus, nor do many of the OTHER world's religions.

Are they all wrong?

18. The message is what most of us here live by. He was the first great
liberal. Even if you don't believe in his existence, you can't fault his message (ignore Paul and other early Repukes who tried to "spin" his message).

20. even if he did exist
we have no idea what he actually preached, we only have the words of people who wroite down THEIR version of that hundreds of years later, so for me whether he was just a hippy Jewish bloke, the son of God or a total figment of our imaginations it's irrelevant anyway.

People managed love, kindness, tolerance etc for a long time before Jesus "lived" and will do so for long afterwards, equally people were mean, violent and bigoted long before and will continue to do so

27. I lov e Jesus.. .
I am a Christian, and I truly believe that Jesus is the Son of the Most High. However, I don't think that he is pleased with the way we treat
each other, our lack of compassion and love.

And it was Jesus who said that "not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord,'
will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." He also warned that many would say "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name . . . and done many mighty works in your name," but that his response would be to tell them to "depart" as workers of wickedness. Their lack of love and compassion
towards others would condemn them. (see Matthew Chapter 7).
