Rove plan for 2006? Introduce Const Amendment in Congress
to ban gay marriage. It will not get the necessary 2/3 votes of course, but then he targets all Dem Congress members who vote "no" for the 2006 elections in the red states and near red states. I heard this morning on radio that Bush might make such an amendement proposal.

Does anyone else agree that since the gay marriage issue worked so well for Rove (at least according to pundits), he is going to ride that horse until it drops?

1. The man is pathological.
Anyone with that much time to think about gay people has some sorting out to do. Figure out what really is driving him.

Hint: I say it isn't any hate, as we know it. Fascination, perhaps.

8. Yeah, is sure is strange to obsess over something
that has no direct affect on him, but maybe it does, who knows.

I just think we need to get out in front on this issue and explain the Democratic postion clearly (state issue) and well in advance of the next election cyle so the Dem position is fixed in stone and he cannot fool voters like he did this time. Education is the key in my opinion.

2. Simple answer
"That's a state issue. I will not allow the Federal Government to legislate what it is the right of the states to legislate."

3. I agree but that won't work in places like Ohio
That is exactly what Kerry said many, many times. But Rove will say the Dems voted no on the Amendment because they want gay marriage.

It worked this year so why should 2006 be any different?

9. Education - a clear postion now so that it cannot be twisted later
I thought Kerry explained his position well but for some reason he apparently did not connect with as many voters as maybe he could have. We should have people fleshing out all these hot button issues well in advance of national campaigns so that the answers are clear and can be understood by everyone, even the lowest common denominator.

12. Maybe so, but we should examine exactly what he said
I understood him and so did you but maybe it needs to be explained another way. My idea is to heavily stress the issue from the viewpoint of equal protection.

6. Ask Falwell & Robertson
they delivered the evangelical vote to Bush. Plus they really love the Jihad Bush is carrying out against those evil Muslims. They also want to see those homosexuals sinners cast to hell as Leviticus calls for.

13. But are all evangelicals as rabid as those who follow them?
I would think there would be conservative, moderate and liberal evangelicals just as there are in most other groupings of people.

7. Well if it worked in 2004
Why not try it again in 2006? Especially when all of the media and many of the democrats are with you on the idea.

the only way it can backfire is if the democrats bow down and pass the constituitional amendment *shudder*

11. Good grief! If the Dems did that I would be finished with them
If a single one of them does it I would work to drum him out of the party. I think the issue must be explained in terms of equal rights under the constitution, not an issue for only for gays but for everyone

19. Democrats tried and failed to talk about equal rights
Sadly, the media is pushing the theory that the rights of gays (or the fight for it) lost the election to bush. This was after the young vote was blamed for not showing up and Kerry was painted as not doing enough because he conceded in the face of overwhelming odds.

While democrats turn on each other, the republicans form the next line of attack. They are preparing for 2006 while we are attacking for 2004.

16. His plan is for a 30 year majority for Repubs - he plans to stick around
That is beyond our control. As sly as he may be I cannot accept that we do not have people who can counter his strategies. If the writing is on the wall, as it is with respect to this issue, we must anticipate his moves well in advance and develop clear, concise and convincing responses.

15. Yes! The Christians* Fall For The Demon-Fags Scare Tactic Every Time.
Please note that "Christians*" means Bush* supporting Christians, fag-hating Christians, anti-choice Christians, war-loving Christians, Falwell Christians, Robertson Christians, Zealot Christians, Fundie Christians, Born-Agains and Evangelicals and does not mean the Jimmy Carter style of Christians or progressive Christians who hang out on DU or who are not like the evil Christians mentioned above.

FUCK! That's just too difficult to type. Why do some folks have to be so touchy? Why must I type so much to exclude the folks who OUGHT to know that I'm not talking about them in the first place?

17. Maybe democrats and liberal pundits should start by writing and
talking more about these issues like this http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6385026/#041107. Clearly asking people to reflect on how issues of this sort affect their personal lives and that of their neighbors should help make a connection. Just saying that it is a states issue and leaving at that, to me, is not quite an effective approach. People should challenged to think beyond the hysterical prejudice that are being fed to them.

18. Rove's plan is to do away with the two-term limit for Pres...
along with changing the way in which Constitutional amendments will be decided. Once accomplished, welcome to the Thousand Year Reich, imo. Gay rights is a mirror image of the "Jew" image used by the Nazis in the early 30s. Find a scapegoat and,in owning the media, repeat, repeat, repeat the message.
