An Honest Question For Democratic Gays........
I'm not looking to get flamed, so if you want to be acerbic...

I "kindly ask" that you pass up this thread.....

Now for the "Democratic Queers"..... it's pretty clear that we are being looked upon as the big reason that Kerry lost.... no one will deny that, even though there seems to be some disagreement on how much fault we are to shoulder.......

Now my question is..... has anyone else (Queers) thought that the Democratic party might not be such a good fit for either participant?

(Not For The DNC, Nor For Queers)?

1. I disagree that Kerry lost because of gays
Number one, I'm not at all sure that Kerry lost. Looks to me like he probably won, in which case our party of inclusion and fairness carried the majority.

Number two, if Kerry was really outvoted at the polls it wasn't because of anything gay people did or didn't do. It was because half the country was convinced by lies and fear to vote for a chimp.

I keep saying this over and over again and I won't stop. THE REPUGS LIE ABOUT EVERYTHING WE DO. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT WE DO OR DON'T DO - THEY LIE ABOUT IT!

GLBT people deserve the same Constitutional rights as everybody else. Our party stands for those rights. End of subject.

2. it's not the right time to ask that question
but, i am a member of the green party...so take that for what it's worth. there is a lot of finger-pointing right now, and i suspect it will taper off when people come to their senses. it's not as if WE started this shit...the rw targetted US.

5. oh yeah, blame your base and keep losing...
Yes, Leon Panetta, it's the base that caused your loss.

Bullshit. It's pure crap to say that gays or any other part is at fault, but very conveniently, the party establishment again, takes no responsibility for a campaign they ran and organised and that Dean funded.

That *Bush got the fundies all freaked in order to win is what is despicable. It's a form of abuse to the mentally retarded.

And if the establishment wants to keep blaming their base, fuck them.

6. Kerry did not lose b/c of gays.
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 01:22 AM by brainshrub
He lost because of BBV.

This whole "Kerry lost because of gays" myth is a RW attempt to make us turn a minority into a scape-goat.

Fuck 'em!

Gays are a welcome, wholesome and important component of the Democratic party. Turning our collective backs on them would be like poking our own eyes out with a fork. Any party that does not support equal rights for gays is not good enough for my vote.

8. lets pretend that Gay marriage did make Kerry lose
Consider this..people who voted to ban gay marriage went out of thier way to vote for a law that will NOT help anybody, will NOT solve any problems that anyone has, but WILL cause hardship for millions of people who have never done anything against the people voting for the ban. Most of the ban supporters have never even met a gay person more then likley.

I think we all know that there's a word for people like that.

And frankly, if it hadn't had been that, it would have been some other wedge issue. If not HATE, then FEAR or GREED or whatever. Conservatives have always been good at bringing out the baser natures in us all.

even if we lose, do we really want the Dems to become a party of bigots?
