"Hooray for Holywood!!!!"
Evidently those pesky gays aren't the only problem with our party. Here, an activist from the DLC urges we all more spend time in church and less time in Hollywood. So, I proclaim that henceforth it will be known as "Holywood" (anybody need a really, really big 'L'???)...and only Disney and Mel Gibson will be allowed to produce American entertainment.

======
>>Marshall Wittmann, an activist at the Democratic Leadership Council, a centrist think tank, said, "This could be a liberating time for Democrats, a chance to clean the cobwebs. It should start with the realization that they need to spend less time in Hollywood and more time in churches."

"They need to realize that America is one of the most religiously observant countries outside the Islamic world," said Wittmann. "Bush's faith is his political strength, and if Democrats don't find a way to talk about faith and values, if instead they move to the left, that plays to Karl Rove's goal of essentially destroying the Democrats as a potential national majority party."

Strategist Tom Pazzi, who hails from the party's labor-Kennedy wing, agreed: "As someone raised Catholic, I'm sensitive to any commingling of church and state. But we don't have to talk faith the way the religious right does. We need to be able to talk about our issues (health care, jobs) in a thematic way that resonates with people's spiritual and moral needs, the higher needs."

The problem is that the Democratic primaries start with Iowa and New Hampshire, where liberals dominate. Candidate Joe Lieberman, who frequently invoked God and morals, bombed in both those places last winter. As Alan Abramowitz, a nonpartisan analyst based in Georgia, said last Thursday, "They've got to change that primary calendar. It'd be a good idea to start with a big Southern state."

2. Tell Marshall Wittmann to take his head and shove it up his butt.
No wonder we lose elections with asshats like this.

We need a real Liberal party, not a bunch of wankers who are diet-republican.

3. Sounds like someone
needs to spend less time in the DLC and more time looking for a job.

5. It really gets to them that Hollywood gave us strong vocal power --
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 01:36 AM by 4_year_nightmare
Let's see, they had Ron Silverman, Pat Boone, Dean Jones (The Love Bug), & some has-been country singers.

If they're so anti-Hollywood, why did they engage these B-rated has-beens on the talk-show circuit blowing their hot air for them?

They would LOVE to have the star power that supported the Democratic Party.

6. Democrats should hate California and love only Alabama!
It's the only way to win in the next election. We must openly hate gays, blacks, California, and New York.

Come on Democrats, you must destroy your soul to save it!

10. I can't think of a bigger cobweb than the DLC
They want to constantly move to the "center" even though that line keeps getting redrawn by the right. They constantly want to compromise even when we have nothing else to compromise on (and still are able to face ourselves in the mirror each morning). They keep reliving their 1992 "success" by deluding themselves that they made Bill Clinton. Well guess what DLC, Bill put YOU on the map, NOT the other way around. Your ideas are stale, they don't work in today's political climate and your ideas are of no use to me. Do us all a favor and shut the hell up.

And as for Hollywood...well if I'm forced to choose between Hollywood and nothing, I'll choose Hollywood to present my point of view because I'm damn sure the media won't do it these next 4 years.

11. As a movie-loving atheist liberal, Wittmann can kiss my butt
I prefer indies and foreign films, but Hollywood comes out with good ones quite often, so no way am I going to shun them.

Whatta jerk.

Kerry talked about his faith plenty during the campaign, and I didn't mind. Anyone who says that faith wasn't at the forefront either wasn't paying attention or has an agenda to deny it.

"Moral values" was ALL OVER THE PLACE at the Democratic Convention. Anyone who says they weren't either wasn't paying attention or has an agenda to deny it.

Get these freepers out of our party!

12. Let's UNLEASH Hollywood
Let that knee-jerk twit go with the cable yakkers. We need to take off the gloves (wish we had taken them off 15 years ago): If they say we are in Hollywood's thrall, well then, let's GO WITH IT. Hollywood is the world's hugest propaganda machine. Let's swamp 'em with - not documentaries - every kind of Lib movie.
