you can make a shirt in like five minutes..
it's called free speech, regardless of the message.

5. That's why i'm asking about it |
|
i want free speech but i don't like companies to take my money and use it to stab me in the back. www.seeyageorge.com plays only 1 side.

3. They sell stuff for both sides |
|
Most businesses that want to make money have to do that.

6. Better boycott paper--I hear it carries a lot of Bush/Cheney stuff as well |
|
Seriously, Cafe Press just provides a platform for whatever logo/slogan you choose to put on the shirt.

7. Looks like the "don't blame me" is the first and last thing |

I will ever buy from these people. I won't support a place that makes a profit off of killing and the chimp.

9. Cafe Press is nothing more than a Kinko's |
|
I myself have used them - all they do is provide the mechanism and take their cut. I don't know anything about the corporate structure, so there may be some contribution information that is relevant, but to boycott them based on what is sold through them is not.

10. If they censor one side but not the other, then worry |
|
As long as they allow free speech for both sides then what's the problem?

12. Not Union Made either |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 02:10 AM by sarahlee
I've written letters to these two organizations asking them to set up a Cafe Press type deal that would sell Union made goods. http://www.sweatx.net/http://www.northernsun.com/cgi-bin/ns/customs/union.htmlI'll gladly pay a bit more for the Union Label. Write and tell them you would too.

No different than a TV network running campaign ads from both sides.
I'd boycott them if they only allowed Bushlovers to create and sell stuff.

The message may be odious, but the blame lays squarely on the shoulders of the creator; not the company providing the template.
We could tumble down quite a slippery slope if we choose to retaliate against anyone providing a medium for free speech, regardless of political proclivity.
Imagine overhearing right-wingers saying the same exact thing about a "Somewhere in Texas, a Village is Missing its Idiot" shirt, and deciding to boycott. Would it be a petty gesture to you?
Imagine that, from their point of view, they are boycotting because they believe it is morally right to do so.
Same with your opinion. You believe it would be morally right to withhold business from this company, due to their suspect practices in allowing bigots to print idiot shirts. You are right in opposing the message, but you are wrong in imposing your idea of what is "right" on others.
In that way, we must ascend beyond the pettiness of the Republican party.
