Question for DUers that actually know anything about economics
When is the treasury auction? I heard it was within a couple of weeks. And what does it mean that we're raising the debt ceiling what with the dollar falling? Are we screwed?

What do people with no economic clue do if we are?

1. Yes
try to put your personal economic house in order

If you can investing in metals may be a good idea

At the very least get rid of as much debt as you can... and SAVE... it will be rough

2. I'm thinking of getting metals
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 02:02 AM by Sliverofhope
But I ain't exactly rich, and I need to know how much time I have left.

Also, where do you buy sterling/gold coins/bullion/holy grails/booty? Not at the 7-11. I know there are links on the conspiracy websites, but those seem kinda shaky.

3. Euro's might be a good counter.
They'll have to raise interest rates to get bond buyers interested. That means they'll need to budget higher interest payments on the debt.

5. Seems like you can buy small gold denominations
for about $50. That's good. I was afraid I'd need $10,000 or something.

6. Links to view
www.urbansurvival.com
www.goldmoney.com
www.everbank.com (NZ$ or AU$ looks pretty good right now)
www.apex.com (I think their prices seem good)

www.dailyreckoning.com
www.goldseek.com
www.financialsense.com
www.safemoney.com
www.adenforecast.com

Debt in anything with an adjustable rate (adjustable rate mortgages or credit cards, will go up if interest rates continue to rise, so my thought is it's a good idea to have a locked in interest rate.
Some people might advise putting some savings into physical gold (ceck out the APEX website) and a little into other currencies (check out EverBank website).
