1. Don't forget, it's about

Population reduction, as well.

Considering the fact that a decline in cheaply available oil means a decline in food production, the world's population will immolate itself with desperate fighting over resources. The ensuing contraction due to starvation is due to be in the billions.

The Cheneys of the world understand this, and they're doing everything within their power to ensure that they maintain control over the American government during the impending disaster. Rather than publicly acknowledging the emergency and allowing the people to work their own way out of this mess, the American response is to initiate an endless war - simultaneously depopulating a whole region of the globe and funneling profits into the accounts of American companies.

It all makes sense, in a kind of insane way.

2. "Ownership Society"
Where we put our social security dollars into corporate America so we'll ALL have a financial interest in continuing the exploitation of 3rd world countries and fighting terror wars against them when they revolt. I'm really starting to think it's time to go.

3. You betcha.
I just heard Rich Galen on that BBC call in program on NPR in the morning, and he was very nonchalantly responding to an Iranian caller's concern about Iran being potentially attacked like Iraq. Ole Rich just basically told the poor guy "Well, it's up to the Iranian people."
