So, what will the Draft next year be called?
You know it's gonna be some Orwellian name.

My guess: The American Freedom Initiative.

35. First there will be another attack...
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 11:45 AM by Javaman
Which, personally, they (the US gov't) will allow to happen. There will be all sorts of ranting and raving and calling for morons head, but in the end, they will say, "we have all warned you that they would attack again, we try to be on the look out for all possible targets, but we can't possibly track them all,it's hard work..." So while the nation hides under a rock waiting for our fearless leader to speak, he asks congress for a resolution to reinstate the draft. Everyone will be scared and pissed off at the world and will be willing to send their sons and daughters into a hail of gun fire coming from a yet undefined culprit nation. More than likely, it will be blamed on Al Qeada. So therefore, the attack will be on Iran, Syria or unlikely but possible, N. Korea. Of course, no one bothers to ask the kids that will actually will be doing the fighting if they want to go, but who cares, the prez and the gov't don't, so why should we?? Welcome to the new perpetual war. War is good for business and keeps people in line and stupid. Ah, nothing like a new dark ages.

As for a name? A rose by any other rose smells just as sweet. What ever they try to put across to us, it will always becalled the Draft.

15. You can just see it now.
Jeb Bush (or whoever they dig up) campaigning in '08: "My opponent voted against supporting the troops!" Either that or "How DARE you complain about the war? YOU voted for the draft."

23. We need to call it what it is- A DRAFT
We need to hit them hard on this but not until it actually happens. Let the GOP screw themselves on this one. Then we can say we tried to warn you but you wouldn't listen.

Fear is a great motivator and when 18-25 year olds are forced with the possibility of being drafted to fight in a war they don't support you will see a huge outcry against the GOP.

29. unfortunately that strategy is too truthful
Reality doesn't seem to work for us. You would have thought before we went into Iraq with all of the extreme noise that was made about there not being WMD's that when they went and we were right, we could have said "we warned you," but for some reason even reality does not stop them.

32. I disagree
We don't need to try to sugarcoat things. We are very good at being "politically correct" so that we don't offend people. Well, I think people need to hear the truth. We complain that the media isn't covering events that would expose the lies of the Bush administration for what they are. We need to take it into our own hands and do it ourselves.

"Shock and awe" would be a good description of what I would do. I would shock people into waking up by telling them the truth.

As for WMD, the GOP is very good at scaring people with lies. I say we need to scare people with the truth. We need to quit being defensive about things and make the GOP act defensively for a change. IF we bust them with the truth, then they will have to spend both time and money defending their positions. And they run the risk of being exposed as liars.

24. so far it's the "you're not going home" and the "poverty" draft
Next year it will be the "you're still not going home" and "even more poverty" draft. If those don't provide enough blood to grease the war wheels the fascists will start the draft and blame it on Clinton and Kerry because we KNOW that the fascists aren't responsible for anything.
