AAR is making me feel better right now
The Arlen Specter things is being put into perspective...explaining how the right is "eating themselves" and will likely lose at 1/2 of the vote they just got no matter what they do right now. Go fundie, they lose the moderates. Go mod, they lose the fundies.

Yeah, yeah, four years is a long time. But still, it is nice to hear a "silver lining" scenario which actually seems believable.

1. Exactly
I just ran into a woman this weekend who should be a Dem, but it's not popular here and it wouldn't look right at her church :puke:

She told me she was sorry for me, but otherwise couldn't be happier for the way things worked out last Tuesday. Here in GA, they overwhelmingly passed the Gay Marriage Ban and took control of the House. The GOP now controls the Governor's mansion, the Senate and the House.

I responded by saying that like on the national level, they've all got the rope now, we're just sitting back waiting for them to hang themselves.

And for this, I'll find the patience. Oh yes, I'll wait. And it will be that much sweeter when they implode on themselves.

2. Your friend, unfortunately,
is a walking advertisement for the moral cowardice gripping this country. "Would have voted Dem?" "It wouldn't look right at her church?" Your response was terrific!
:puke: on moral cowards!

5. As a native of PA...
I’m appalled by the press this Arlen Specter thing is getting. I’ve heard people call him a liberal traitor to their republican values, even after the guy votes straight republican ticket more than 80% of the time. If this makes him liberal, than these people are wacked out of their gourd. Also, if people think he’ll be a moderate vote for Pro-Choice vs. Anti-Choice issues, know that he will do anything to keep his job and will tow the Bush line, and has said just that in his interview in our local paper. Don’t take his appointment lightly, this is going to be the first step towards the removal of reproductive rights in this country and we must stand strong to protect the rights of people to make choices for themselves.
