Be afraid, be very afraid! (of dominionists/ xtian reconstructionists)
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 10:11 AM by BlueEyedSon
The Dominionists (Chritian Reconstructionists) have taken over the Republican party, and the US. Watch or listen here:

http://www.theocracywatch.org/audio-video.htm

Their basic priciples are:
"Correct" the Constitution to conform to Biblical Law
Eliminate the secular US Federal Government in favor of religious leaders
Close all public schools and social programs

This is serious stuff. They are playing for keeps and believe they are doing God's will. No existing secular laws or sense of "fair play" will impede them. They are here and they are on a Crusasde.

2. How powerful are they really though?
I don't doubt that such people exist, nor do I doubt that they would like to accomplish these goals. But are they really powerful enough within even the Christian Conservative movement to effect such radical changes?

Their goal is to see those of us in the 'reality-based community' either sent to reeducation camps, or executed flat out, all the while implementing a return to the Dark Ages.

6. They ARE doing it already, even in the Blue States
In one fast-growing school district near Philadelphia (North Penn/Lansdale) the fundamentalists and the seniors in the community have banded together to elect anti-public-school activists to the school board. The seniors don't care - their kids already got their public schooling and they'll do anything they have to to reduce their taxes (not unreasonably), and the fundamentalists don't send their kids there, and sure as hell don't want to pay for it. They have also defeated every attempt to raise money for a desperately-needed new school that would alleviate overcrowding.

This is happening all over the country. They are working hard to strangle public schools and eventually kill them so that church schools will slowly become the only option.

9. They're probably the most powerful group in the US right now
since Chicken George owes his success to them. They may have allied themselves with Moon and Opus Dei. They will be vetting all Bush's appointments. Expect to see Asscrack nominated to take Rehnquist's place on the USSC, and expect to see him confirmed.

7. Yes, but they don't represent all the "moral" voters....
Some of them don't realize how extreme the Christian Reconstructionists actually are.

They need to learn about their new allies, who make the Southern Baptists look liberal.

10. Oddly enough, most folks regardless of religion agree on yer
basic morals.

Don't lie, cheat, steal, kill. Love thy neighbor as thyself. (Repubs, you might try to remember that last one.)

It's just the zealots who try to make a laundry list longer than your arm of Thou Shalt Nots.

Would Jesus love a liberal? You bet!

Abortion
Gay Marriage
Evolution in textbooks
"god" in the pledge

They use stealth. They are "normal" Christians til they get power, them BLAMMO. For me the US Constitution is the law of the land.
