write Va. Governor Mark Warner
And tell him to stay in politics and/or run for POTUS in 2008.
(Gov. of Va. can not be re-elected)

1. I think he wants to take Allen's job as Senator first (2006)
I'm just saying.

2. Yeah
I think that would be a good cause too. I'd like to see him in the Senate.

7. I agree on Allen...but
You can't dispute his popularity...there is no way Warner beats him head to head!! Warner should either run for Prez or wait till John Warner retires.

8. I spoke to him last week and urged him to run for Allen's seat
He really laughed it off saying, "I don't know about Allen, I just don't know about that"... which is really not a yes or no. I got the impression that he was aware that Allen would be a tough nut to crack.

I do think that he would welcome a run for the presidency in '08. But if the pres. run doesn't look good, and if Sen. Warner does not return, then Mark Warner will go for it.

BTW, Mark Warner has the most wonderful way about him when he shakes your hand and listens to what you have to say.
He is tall and he slightly leans toward you and gives you his complete attention.

It is quite wonderful really.

9. Yeah, he's awesome
And he needs to stay in and fight for us. I don't see him beating smilin' george - he's popular for no other reason than he's a repuke of the highest order. Warner is a rising star and he we need him. He's been the only thing that has kept VA from sinking into intolerable debt and he's been a terrific Governor.

10. He'd be a strong candidate.
I doubt that he could defeat Allen for his Senate seat - but he doesn't need to. Being a former governor of Virginia will be enough to establish him as a credible candidate. And if he works in the private secotr after his term as governor ends, that will be a plus for him.

It's about time that people realize that bing a U.S. Senator is actually a handicap to a Presidential candidate. The strongest candidates are governors and former governors.
