Why is Harry Reid (Nevada) going to be our leader??? Why??? |
|
He's from a red State and won re-election due to people who backed Bush too! I have my doubts that he will stand up to Bush. Also, he does not inspire either. We need to Dick Durbin to be our leader!!!

2. He has more tickets to the dance than anyone else |

The Senate is a club with a membership that is so exclusive that only 100 members of the US citizenship can be members at any one time. It is mostly based on seniority and operates under rules of gentility and southern manners that any Conferate would be proud of.
Senator Reid simply has earned more tickets to the dance than any other Democrat no matter what their beliefs. To suggest otherwise would be extremely rude under the Code of Manners of the Confederacy.

I believe it is protocol for the whip to step us to the leader position. You are right, Reid seems too moderate and we need someone who will stand up firm. We need someone from a BLUE STATE who doesn't have to worry too much about losing their seat.

for gathering Democratic votes on legislation? That's not much of a traxk record. I am VERY distressed over his anti-choice votes, but not surprised...he is a Mormon!

5. Political wheeling and dealing... |

Well seniority is one reason why he gets it. Hes a memeber of the Senate leadership on our side.
Next his seat is considered safe, as Nevada is becoming less and less "red" over time. Contrast that with SD which is seemingly becoming more "red" as younger people flee a state that has no jobs for them.
Reid is softspoken and non confrontational in public. He has a reputation as being a deal maker.
I think we should give him some time in the job to gauge his effectivenes. His job is not going to be an easy one as its going to be easier to ram through the Rep agenda with 55 seats now. The fillibuster can not be used on every piece of legislation
