spread the word a nation wide sit-in is coming
I advise it to be on a weekday. Every dem we will not show up to work that day. We will have a nation wide sit in where millions of dems are active. Remember Martin Luther King who had a dream that one day we would be a free nation. He marched and he held sit-ins. We need to learn from him and START ACTING now. We will be peaceful but we will be heard if we make it nation wide!

1. I like the idea, but...
What's the message?

Are we protesting the Bush won? Ah-hem, sorry, but if you wanted a legitmate chance at making the argument you should have called for a sit in in 2000. Bush won the popular election this time around - there's not a likely chance of that being overturnned, barring one of the most absurd conspiracy theories being true.

Now, don't get me wrong - let's have a sit-in! But we need a clear, direct message. We need issues that we've framed the context of to advocate during our sit-in. Bush's election will not be contested this time around, so it's time to plant ourselves in the ground and not give up an inch. If the tables we're turned, you know that the Republicans would do the same. Show you've got the stomach and balls to not quit while you're down. If the Sox can beat the Evil Empire, we can promote and obtain our goals even when we're down.

But simply protesting to protest is not a message we want heard. Protesting the election will not get you anywhere, they beat us - time to reconcile that. I commend you all working so hard to make every vote count, but in the end history will show that the antiabortion-antigay vote won this election for Bush.

4. Right, and that's understandable
I was just trying to make sure we weren't rallying behind a conspiracy theory that would make us look like fools.

I liked the article... It was truly inspiring, especially to someone as young as me.

9. I think it needs to be more focused.
Maybe timed to the next time Bush does something hateful.

I'm not sure a general sit-in for no particular reason but that we're pissed is most effective.

Also where? Are there enough segregated lunch counters?

Just asking.
