3. Divorce rates are from 92

The divorce rates posted here over the weekend were very old. While the trend might be the same now the latest data I could find was from 1995 (which was missing about 4 states but Mass was still the lowest). The ones posted here were from 1992.

Anyone seen any more recent?

5. Can the United States sell the Blue States to Canada? to pay off the debt

wouldn't that be great? We could still live in our homes but be part of Canada. We would be helping the US out of debt and be living in a country that more reflects our values. Would Canada take us?

6. The Republican Welfare States can't take care of themselves.

And the Republican Welfare Queens in Congress representing the people of the Republican Welfare States think that government benefits are free. Someday, somewhere, someone in the republican party needs to stand up and tell the people in the Republican Welfare States that government costs money. Good government costs money and bad government costs money. And supporting the Republican Welfare States costs the entire country too much money. The Republican Welfare States need to wean themselves from the government teat and learn to support and take care of themselves.

7. A while back, a southern DUer gave me some great insight

into what is going on there. I wish I could remember his name. He said that especially in the rural south, the country club and church elite really ran things, and used fear--especially fear of blacks and gays--to control lower class whites. They kept taxes low, and benefit from cheap labor and standard of living.
Essentially, the same people were running things in a feudal manner just like before the civil war.
