Under whose command are the US troops now storming Fallujah?
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 06:18 PM by jefferson_dem
Just wondering because the Pentagon is making clear that this mission is "iraqi-led." I guess those conservatives who cackle like scalded chickens about how our troops should never wear those UN blue helmets are perfectly cool with them being guided (in part at least) by a temporary IRAQI governing entity. 'Aint that sweet?!

2. Allawi had the last word on 'GO'
Does that mean he's in command? I don't know. I doubt he was setting priorities or plan of attack, but he was definitely the final arbiter of the 'go' decision. Kind of like Ike during D-Day, and Ike was definitely in command.

5. The troops are going in NOW!
Two US soldiers have already died (drowned in a river in an overturned tank.)

4. I keep wondering also-since they keep saying
Edited on Mon Nov-08-04 06:13 PM by leetrisck
"as soon as Allawi says to go", etc. It better be Iraqi's in the lead as we can't seem to tell when someone is going to "defect." What exactly is our government saying with these mixed messages - are our troops under Allawi control?

8. Saw quotes from a fundie general earlier
He had the troops all swaying and praying the night before the assault.
