An email to Britt Hume (a top 10 conservative idiot)
The top 10 this week got me so riled that I wrote an email to Mr. Hume. Hopefully others will follow suit and get the point across.

Dear Mr Hume,

In your WED. AUG 27 Political Grapevine, you used some jawdropping statistics to downplay the loss of American soldiers in Iraq. You make the assertion that Americans are safer in Iraq than in California because it has less murders than a state with "roughly the same geographical size" and the . Excuse me, Mr. Hume, but what kind of ignorant and misleading journalism is this?

You stated. "U.S. soldiers have less of a chance of dying from all causes in Iraq than citizens have of being murdered in California" I smell some fuzzy math on your end.

Lets go through some numbers. 170, 000 troops in Iraq. 277 deaths in 160 days. Thats about 550 deaths a year (low end). This means one out of every 309 Americans in Iraq are being killed. Roughly 1.7 soldiers killed daily (your statistic) for 170000 people.

Califonia has 38 million citizens. 2300 deaths in 365 days. That's one of every 16, 500 Americans in California are killed. 6 every day...for 38 million people (your statistic as well. partially).
An American Soldier's chance of getting killed is 50 times greater in Iraq than the average citizen California.

Hopefully your vieweres will wade through your muddy statistics and see them for the junk they are. Hopefully you realize that your facts are incorrect. Hopefully you display the real numbers pertaining to our troops in Iraq instead of shilling for the administration. Sadly, I don't believe this to be the case. You once again have proudly proven Fox News to be 'Wholly Without Merit".

Sincerely
J

PS...love the whoooosh!
