Quest continues to demonize Gays/Lesbians for Loss
On the front page of MSN today, this article is linked:
DID GAY MARRIAGE COST KERRY A WIN?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6415858/site/newsweek/?GT1=5809

The article states:

"But when the exit polls were analyzed, 78 percent of those who voted for Bush cited moral values as a top concern. Democrats knew for months that amendments to ban gay marriage would be on state ballots, yet they did nothing to create a counterweight. David Bositis at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a Washington think tank, observed that the U.S. Supreme Court gave George W. Bush the presidency in 2000, while the Massachusetts Supreme Court handed it to him in this election."

Okay, now look at the friggin exit polls:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/US/P/00/epolls.0.html

And you will see that if you use that stat, you have to include a disclaimer that those 78% or 80% chose OTHER ITEMS AS WELL. Terrorism, infact is at 86%. If you add up the percentages it is 316%.

When you look at the MAIN REASON, moral values (NOT GAY MARRIAGE but MORAL VALUES) is at 22%. Moral values can mean gay marriage, stem cell research, abortion, the fact that GW prays every day, etc.

PLEASE, call the media on this witch hunt against gay america. The writer's email is here: capitolletter@newsweek.com

2. As you note, "moral values" is a very broad term.
It allows each and every person to interpret it within his/her own frame of reference.

I voted for Kerry, in the broadest sense, because of "moral values". To be more specific, I want honest government. And I want a government that's consistent with my religious upbringing: we must take care of our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

Jesus said "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

So while Karl Rove is viciously ripping out the flowers that his next door neighbor planted because he somehow thinks they transgressed the property line, I'm shoveling snow off the steps of my elderly neighbors' home (even though they supported Bush).

This is why we need to coopt their language. Who among us does not hold moral values dear? Why do we allow them to claim this term for themselves? It's not like they hold the copyright to it!
