The Biggest Myth of All Time |
|
Republicans say JFK only won in 1960 because of Mayor Daley.
The Electoral College in 1960 went 303-219 to JFK.
Illinois had 27 electoral votes at the time. So even if JFK lost IL
303-27=276 electoral votes.
So JFK would still have won in 1960 and Nixon would only have had 246 electoral votes. He still would have come up short.

1. They are always looking for any reason they can |
|
to bash Dems and try to prove fraud.
Even though they (quite questionably) won in 2000, they accused the Democrats of voter fraud. And then they accused the Dems of voter fraud in 2002, even in elections that Republicans won by a wide margin.
Its never enough for these people.

Dude, this is hardly the "biggest myth ever." I'm sorry, I don't doubt what you say, but this isn't even in the same league as Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster.

4. Yeah, knowing what we know now about Nixon |
|
I am not sure why the right would want to suggest he could have beat JFK.

They like to claim that Nixon graciously accepted defeat, when in fact he (and his minons) strenously fought behind the scenes to contest it. When it was uncontestable, he refused to certify the results, which is something Al Gore did do.

10. It may not be very nice, but ... |
|
... if Nixon would have won, perhaps JFK wouldn't have been the one murdered. We might have been able to have Kennedy presidents through the '80's: John, Robert, Ted.
What a different world it would be.

11. I have pointed this out to students before. |

It is easily verifiable at the public library. In other words, we are in complete agreement. Now, don't go unbelieving it just because a dreaded Green is on your side here. ;-)
