HARD BOOZE SPONSORS COMING TO NASCAR 2005
HARD BOOZE SPONSORS COMING TO NASCAR 2005

GANG == ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS, SUNDAY AFTERNOONS, KIDS AT HOME, WATCHING RACE TEAMS LIKE...

'SOUTHERN COMFORT'

'JACK DANIELS'

'ABSOLUTE'

I mean, what the hell, doesn't this break the rules for advertising hard booze during kid shows? I watched Nascar during the 70's, back in the days of ABC Wide World of Sports, I wasn't even a teenager yet and I knew who Richard Petty and David Allison was.

STP drawings where on my school books, I loved car racing, so now little kids will be drawing LIQUOR BOTTLES == HARD BOOZE LIQUOR BOTTLES on their notebooks.

I am beyond Pissed off on this one....

Story.....

Childress welcomes spirits
End to dry spell for liquor ads good for racing, owner says

Excerpt ----
Longtime team owner Richard Childress is happy that NASCAR finally has opened the sponsorship doors to hard-liquor companies.
"It's not only bringing money to the racing teams, it's a new category coming in," Childress said. "They'll put so much marketing in so many places, it will be good for the sport. They'll take us to a whole other place."

NASCAR said Wednesday that it has dropped the restriction against distilled spirits sponsorships, with the stipulation that the liquor companies spend at least 20 percent of their advertising budgets on promoting responsible drinking.

Will this put the Networks in danger of FCC Fines for promoting booze to kids during 'family events?'

Last year's Daytona 500 grand opening aggravated to the point where I wrote 'Nipples for Nascar'...

Then during the election campaigns, I was disgusted with Donald Rumsfeld being cheered at a Nascar Event like some great 'Julius Ceaser'..

I have yet to write my thoughts on this, but I tell you, as a race car fan going way back in my life, and to think of all this 'Republican Country BullSh*T' with statements from these race teams, for them now to be allowing this, I am just furious.

Trust me, this isn't the last you've heard of this from me.

1. i agree that it's a bad idea..
JR gets fined 25 points for saying "shit" on the TV, yet it's perfectly acceptable for little Billy to go down the Sprawl-Mart and buy a Jack Daniels die-cast. Interesting set of priorities.

2. Just going back to their roots
NASCAR started in the South as moonshine runners with reconfigured "stock" street cars running moonshine and avoiding the cops.
All I have to say about Nascar is, "If you get your jollies watching cars go round in circles and secretly hoping you get to see " a good wreck", then you might be a redneck!
Give em all a few shots before the race and maybe they will have lots more wrecks and the fans will be even more gleeful.
What a total waste of time and fossil fuel, imho. I happen to live in Naas-car land down South and have to deal with this crap all the time when visiting relatives. They will actually say "Sit down and be quiet, the race is on and there aint but 100 laps to go" Get me a dental drill and no Novocaine and I'd be happier!
Let em Drink and Drive the stupid "sport" into oblivion for all I care!

4. LOL = Dental Drill === OMM
Oh My Monkey that was funny....lol

Hey man, I hear ya, Like I originally posted, I have been watching Nascar since a child myself, but I will admit, its gotten really bad lately.

The cars all look the same, there are no such things as rear wheel drive Monte's, Taurus, and Intrepids, they are all make believe cars that look the same for the last 17 years.

But my fellow poster, that was a funny commentary, thanks for the laughs.

Waiting for a Wreck makes you a redneck === ROFLMAO...
