Let's change our approach
Since the Bush true believers will never recognize the hypocrisy of their ways, let's change our approach.

When one of those types confronts us with their attack, instead of trying to educate the closed mind, let:

Pat them on the head

In a condascending voice usually reserved for a small child/toddler, say "Good for you! Go watch Fox!" or "Go listen to Rush until Fox comes on!"

Wave them aside, dismissing them.

2. HAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm adopting your very wise suggestion right now. It sure will get them frothing at the mouth, especially because they'll be robbed of an opportunity to rant away.

4. that really does work, I do it to rushbots here at work, and they
have no comeback for that type of subtle putdown.

But make sure you do it with a great big smile!! It just makes them red in the face and they look like they are ready to implode.

5. It's fun to be
condescending and patronizing to right-wingers. Use phrases like..."Well, that probably wouldn't mean very much to you" and "Thank you so much for massaging my superiority complex."

6. actually mention Rush and FOX and the rest of them
These freepers are not discussing issues and coming up with their own opinions, they are simply repeating slogans that they heard from Rush, fox, and the rest. Make sure you always ask - "Really? Did you hear that on Hannity"? "Is that what Rush Limbaugh is saying now?" "You must have watched Ann Colter on TV".

They will get the hint, and try to pretend they came up with the ideas on their own, but they know they aren't fooling anyone.

Name them, be specific.

7. and if it IS a kid
especially if the kid is school age,

Turn to the parent and say, "Wow, you've trained him/her well. Is he/she potty trained?"

8. Nah, turn to the parent and say
"You know, this is why I have Fox News on parental block at home."

9. Come now, you humiliate the kid and the parent at the same time
especially if it's the type that looks like they'd bully the other kids.

Love that (local?) commercial where the two families are shopping for back to school. Big kid shops at mall, comes back with one small bag.

Little kid, laden with bags, just like his mother, looks at the bully type clutching his purchase in front of him, defensively. Little kid scores huge with "nice purse!"
