What I want to hear the Democratic presidential candidate say
"My first action as your president will be to nullify by executive order every piece of legislation Bush has attached his name to during his time in office."

As long as the Democratic candidate promises to repeal the tax cuts for the rich, to throw out the Patriot Act, to dismantle faith based tax giveaways, to re-instate environmental laws, to overturn "No Child Left in Public Schools" legislation, and to bring the troops home, I will support that person's candidacy without hesitation.

3. Why a dream?
If a Democrat can't pledge to undo the damage Bush has inflicted, that individual will be a pretty ineffectual leader.

2. That would be dictatorship.
The President does not have the power to nullify acts of Congress by executive order.

4. Bush seems to have no problem doing it
Have none of his executive orders nullified acts of Congress? Or have they rubberstamped every bad check he sent them?

6. Take a look at Dennis Kucinich
He might not be offering everything you want, but he is definitely in favor of turning the country around. 180°. That's gotta be close.

10. I'm trying to stay neutral in the primaries
I'm afraid the infighting will deflect the energy I want to expend on defeating Bush.

I don't want to scream at someone today who may be my last lifeline tomorrow.

Kucinich sounds like a strong candidate whose views are very close to mine. I could easily support him. Or Dean. Or Kerry. And I think I could even choose Lieberman if I had to.

I have decided there is no other choice.

THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE.

11. The primaries are the time to choose a candidate....
The primaries are when you need to support the best candidate. After the nominations you may be stuck with voting for the 'lesser of two evils'.

You said:
"As long as the Democratic candidate promises to repeal the tax cuts for the rich, to throw out the Patriot Act, to dismantle faith based tax giveaways, to re-instate environmental laws, to overturn "No Child Left in Public Schools" legislation, and to bring the troops home, I will support that person's candidacy without hesitation."

You will only get those things with Kucinich. You may get sort of these things and part of these things with the others, but only Kucinich will try to move this country forward to the America we all truly desire.

Read on...

**He has stated numerous times that he will repeal the tax cuts.

http://www.kucinich.us/issues/issue_10key.htm

snip>
"Since the purchasing power of the minimum wage has dropped 21% in two decades, it’s time for living wages, not minimum wages. And it’s time to reverse tax cuts that benefit the already well-to-do, and retain an estate tax. Investing $500 billion to rebuild schools, roads, bridges, ports, and sewage, water and environmental systems will do more to stimulate our economy than tax breaks for the wealthy."
snip>

**He is the only candidate that has stated he will repeal the Patriot Act.

http://www.kucinich.us/issues/issue_10key.htm

snip>
<4> Repeal of the "Patriot Act"
The "Patriot Act" is not what American patriots have fought and died for. To allow our Bill of Rights to be nullified without judicial supervision invites tyranny. The Attorney General has been handed unfettered power to wiretap, search, jail, and invade our most sacred right to privacy. The government must not be allowed, without probable cause or warrant, to snoop on our communications, medical records, library records, and student records.
snip>

**He is committed to joining the Kyoto Treay. Also has stated he will push forward renewable energy research and development.

http://www.kucinich.us/issues/issue_environment.htm

snip>
"A Kucinich Administration would reverse course on most Bush Administration policies and support the Kyoto Treaty that Bush rejected. My Administration would strengthen environmental laws and increase penalties on polluters."
snip>

**He has stated that he will use cuts from the ridiculously bloated Pentagon budget to provide education for children and others.

http://www.kucinich.us/statements.htm#070903b

snip>
""There is money for education. We could re-allocate the $8.9 billion for missile defense and put it into education. We'd have money to hire and train thousands more qualified teachers. We'd have money to buy 9 million new computers for our children and schools. We'd have the money
to fully fund and expand the Head Start program, DEA, and The No Child Left Behind Act.

"National Missile Defense doesn't work. Teachers do. They work for our children, they work for America, and they work for our future.""
snip>

**He has called for withdrawal from Iraq and a UN security force to takeover.

http://www.kucinich.us/statements.htm#un

snip>
"The UN must also take over management, accounting and distribution to the Iraqi people of Iraq's oil profits. Additionally, a transition from UN control to self- determined governing structure by and for the Iraqi people must be planned. Finally, the Administration, which unwisely ordered the bombing, must fund the reconstruction."
snip>

Of course other candidates are 'better than Bush', but as for outright change, Dennis Kucinich is the one.

8. Didn't Bush reverse all Clinton's executive orders?
I will settle for that. Sigh.

And a pledge to try and reverse the Bush legislation enacted in the past 4 years.

Naturally, I was counting on the Democrats retaking the Senate and House in 2004! :)
