purge planned at State Dept?
I saw a TV newscast last night (a local Boston station) that said a purge of the State Department was planned, but so far have found no internet links to a story like that. Given what is happening at the CIA, it seems to be a plausible story.

Does anyone have any links to a story about a possible purge planned at the State Department?

2. You think the blood at CIA is deep enough? You ain't seen nuthin.
State will be skewered like a squealing pig.

The blood at Foggy Bottom will be knee deep. It's only ankle deep at CIA at the moment.

August 2003 column on antiwar.com:

IRAQ WAR CRITICS PURGED
Neocons are getting rid of their critics in government and the military
by Justin Raimondo

The battle of Baghdad is over, but the struggle for control of the Bush administration is just now entering its final stages, with the neocons lunging for the State Department and plenty of old-style conservatives and patriots in government returning fire in earnest. Maureen Dowd acidly notes the attempted coup at the Department of State:

"Let others fight over whether the war in Iraq was a neocon vigilante action disrupting diplomacy. The neocons have moved on to a vigilante action to occupy diplomacy. The audacious ones have saddled up their pre-emptive steeds and headed off to force a regime change at Foggy Bottom."

She's absolutely right that when the neoconservatives within the administration "want something done, they will get it done, no matter what Bush thinks." Ruthless, disciplined, and clear about their policy objectives, the neocons have always operated in the Leninist style, as befits their intellectual history as red diaper babies and Trotskyist apostates.

This article is over a year old, but gives you an idea what the reigning neocons think of Foggy Bottom (it's a PDF, so I can't post an excerpt):

With Colin out the door, count on a Round 2 to cut down anyone they couldn't get before.
