I just got push-polled by the Christian Coalition
:puke:

"Do you think it is right to deny a young child a mother or father, which is what would happen if homosexuals are allowed to marry and adopt children?"

I hung up after that one.

This was the Alabama Christian Coalition, headed by John Giles, who was taking casino money (along with Ralph Reed) from Mississippi casinos to help keep competing casinos out of Alabama. And lied about it until exposed by overwhelming evidence.

Fine, upstanding people. :eyes:

These people have a lot of gall to try to dictate morality ot others.

1. If they call back, ask THEM if THEY think it isright to deny a young child
two loving parents? Then ask if they happen to live in Mass. which has the lowest divorce rate AND allows gays to be united.

12. Sadly, it was a recording. No opportunity to tell anyone off.
I'm thinking of writing a letter to tell them to get their lives together before they start telling anyone else how to live.

2. Ask them...
if they think it's right that the U.S. Government denies some children a mother or father if the parent should get killed in Iraq!

3. Sample Replys (rude)
"Do you think it is right to deny a young child a mother or father, which is what would happen if homosexuals are allowed to marry and adopt children?"

Yes, Every young boy and girl needs a father to penetrate them and a mother to tell them it is their fault.

6. Damn, how come you get to have all the fun?
Next time send those fundies over my way, so I can then send them running down the street screaming madly. I love having fundies show up at my door, for I can then torment and torture them for hours, tying them up so that they don't bother anybody else in the neighborhood. Besides, they turn a beautiful shade of red when you start quoting the Bible back at them to make your points. If I'm feeling real frisky, I'll drag out my old copy of the Book of the Dead, or the Necrinomicron. Start flipping through that, and it is almost a sure thing they start with the running and the screaming, and the nightmares from hell*glaven*;)

7. Odd question.... just exactly HOW would that happen?
I would feign absolute ignorance and make them defend their question until it sounded stupid even to them...

Well, what about widows and widowers? Maybe we should take their kids away? etc etc

8. I got just that question as part of a push poll back in March.
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 11:03 AM by Pacifist Patriot
When they asked "do you think it is right to deny a young child a mother or father?" I interrupted and said, "Yes, I'm very concerned with the Republican platform which isn't doing much to improve our economy so that one parent or the other can afford to stay home with the children."

<stutter...stutter> Well you know that would happen if homosexuals are allowed to marry and adopt children? <apparently couldn't think beyond the script>

ME: <mock perplexed> The Republicans aren't going to improve the economy if homosexuals marry and adopt children?

POLLSTER: Um, no ma'am. Young children will be denied a mother or father.

ME: <mock shock> Surely you don't believe that denying a child the love found in a caring and committed family is wrong? Why, that's just unAmerican. All children deserve to be loved and cared for. Are you trying to tell me that Republicans are against the family values most of us hold so dear?

POLLSTER: Um, no that's not what I'm saying.

ME: Oh, then maybe you can tell me what the Republicans are going to do to help divorced and widowed parents.

POLLSTER: That's not what this question is asking.

ME: <turning serious> I know exactly what this question is doing and it's not working. You should be ashamed of yourself for participating in push polling efforts.

<click> That was the pollster hanging up on me.

What can I say? I have no patience for this crap anymore. Oh, and this was back in March. I don't vouch for the script being verbatim, but it's probably pretty darned close.

9. Some Bible Thumpers came to my house the weekend after
the election trying to raise $ to teach "morals and family values" to children. Usually, I'm a pretty nice person but when I heard those words I lost it. I told them I was going to puke if I heard those words again and that, come to think of it, I don't have any morals or family values so go hit up a Bush supporter for money. You should have seen their faces! It looked especially odd because I live in a "Beaver Cleaver" neighborhood and my one and three year old children were hanging on my legs while I spoke to them.

My husband is quite embarrassed for me, but jeez, Bush has brought out the crazies with this moral crap mandate.

10. I didn't get a call, but I got a nice visit this past Saturday morning
The good people from a particular Baptist church in my area made the unfortunate mistake of ringing my doorbell this past Saturday morning. The one Saturday that I was finally able to sleep in. At 11am when it rang and my dog went nuts, I pulled on some clothes and opened the door. I firmly believe there's a right way and a wrong way to begin talking to strangers and they picked the wrong way. I open the door and one of them immediately begins with "Do you want to go to Hell?" (I still have my Kerry signs up and my bumper stickers adorning my door). I stand there and stare at them for a few seconds then answer - "If it means I get away from psycho zealots like you, then sign me up" and slammed the door in their face. I did call through the door to get off my property before I turn my dog loose on them. :) They don't need to know my ferocious dog is a mini dachshund (he sounds big and tough).

I've since made a warning sign and put it above my doorbell. "If you are here to attempt to convert me to any religion, turn around now or face the consequences."

11. LOL!
Those poor people sound really inept. The Baptist churches aroung here are sneaky. They try to get you through your children.

"It's just a pizza party for teens after the game. What could it hurt? You don't want them out getting in trouble, do you?"
