As a newbie... I need a dictionary...
If there isn't one already on DU, could we get a place to look up the numerous acronyms and slangs that riddle the e-mails here, making it difficult for newbies, like me, to understand what is meant? I sort of understand freepers, but I'd like to know where it came from and exactly what is implied by the use of it. Or troll, not sure how that's used. Believe it or not, the new people on here don't necessarily know that MSM means "mainstream media" or what DINO or RINO means. Hep us out!

1. Democrat in name only (dino) and you can figure out rino

Freeper- those that frequent Free Republic, that fascist repug site. ALso used interchangeably with all republicans. A troll is someone lurking around here who does not belong, and plans on disrupting.

character who lurks under a bridge, lying in wait, up to no good. Dino is Democrat in Name Only.

Actually it doesn't take all that long to figure out, just requires persistence, and constant reading. Patience, grasshopper!

8. eom means "end of message"
n/t means "no text"

They're used to help save time for people who scan just the subject lines of messages.

"Freeper" is not a derogatory term in and of itself. The members of Free Republic call themselves that, and they use "freep" as a verb, as in "freep this poll."

There is a list of frequently-used phrases somewhere around here. It explains the origin of many of the nicknames that are used here. Here are a few you might see:

Tweety is Chris Matthews, host of Hardball on MSNBC. Apparently his staff call him this.

Pickles is Laura Bush. Apparently this is her husband's nickname for her.

Poppy is George H. W. Bush. It's an old nickname that is rumored to have something to do with his business dealings with Afghanistan in the 1960s and the heroin trade.

Chainsaw Crashcart is Dick Cheney.

BFEE is Bush Family Evil Empire

and so forth.
