*shiver* I'm beginning to believe a souleater has taken over repubs

I know, I know, its not that I haven't noticed it before, but I'm noticing that since the second stolen election, repubs are not only soulless as usual, but they are crowing about things like flattening Fallujah, relishing dead children, celebrating the demise of the checks and balances, laughing at GIs shooting wounded Iraqis, overjoyed at the purge at CIA.

I mean, I think they probably privately felt this way, but now they are just like "yes we are evil scum..whaddya gonna do about it?"

or is it just me?

What prompted this was trying to have a debate with a gay republican who voted for bush, and I asked why he would vote against his own rights that way, and he launched at ME for being anti-gay (??) and then looking around an old forum I used to frequent that is repub-controlled, the level of naked bloodlust and hatred is frankly sickening.

These people are no longer human, it seems to me. I previously thought they were just stupid, ignorant or evil humans. NOW I think they are not human. Woe is the human race!

12. Cognitive dissonance

This probably won't be a very popular opinion, but I think most Republicans, even die-hard ones, are good people. They've just gotten swept up in evil politics initiated by some not-so-good people, so now they're trying to reconcile their sense of loyalty to the party with the increasingly obvious reality that the Republican leaders are completely out of their minds. The bloodlust you're seeing now is sort of a backlash against most Republicans' better natures. I'm still optimistic that they'll come around sooner rather than later.
