4. This is serious people
They are totally distorting history. Trashing Democrats as having voted against progressive legislation, when the Democrats they're talking about are those same southerners who are the Republican Party today. Unbelievable.

5. GOD DAMN IT!!! The June Calender claims that Democrats were....
fillibustering the 1964 Civil Rights Bill and that Senator Everett Dirkson called on them to stop "discriminating" against minorities! That is a crock of SHIT!!! The Republican/Nazi party and their boy Goldwater were the ones stopping this bill. It was the GD Rethugs!

10. Oh don't be fooled
The southern Democrats then are today's southern Republicans. Don't forget that. Even Abe Lincoln was portrayed as something of a loon. Is this the Republican Party of today:

12. December 26th, 1991
December 26, 1991
Republican Barbara Franklin nominated as first woman to be U.S. Secretary of Commerce
http://www.policy.house.gov/2005_calendar/dec.cfm

---

Secretary of Commerce: Juanita Kreps (1977 - 1979)

Juanita Kreps was born in Lynch, Kentucky, on January 11, 1921. She received a B.A. from Berea College and, in 1944, an M.A. in economics from Duke University.

Kreps taught economics at Denison College in Ohio and then at Duke, becoming a vice president of the university in 1973. She also became director of the New York Stock Exchange -- the first woman to hold that post.

Following her time on Wall Street, Kreps became secretary of commerce in the Carter administration, becoming the first woman to head the commerce department; she held that position from 1977 to 1979. She was also the James B. Duke Professor of Economics and vice president emeritus at Duke University.
