Freepers never cease to amaze me with their ignorance |
|
On another message board, one boldly proclaimed this regarding gay marriage.
"there are no psychologists who don’t fear that such an arrangement is not harmful to the child."
I knew this was complete nonesense so I called him on it. Of course, he hasn't replied yet, but since it's impossible for these people to shut up for too long I'm expecting a reply eventually, most likely one that completely changes the subject.
Do these people ever do any research? It took me less than five minutes to find references which contradicted his assertion. If you just want people to echo your nonesense, save it for your home board.

UNIONS!!! and the beauty of 'right to work' states. I'm considering replying, but why waste my time, eh? I learned long ago that arguing with these people makes no sense. I get too many of these things to even try to keep up.

Too many damn negatives convulting their "message". Hah! too many negatives - how typical for the anti-progressive party.

I get:
There are no psychologists who don't fear that such an arrangement is not harmful to the child.
or There are no psychologists who don't fear that such an arrangement is not harmful to the child.
or
There are no psychologists who don't fear that such an arrangement is not harmful to the child.
Have to say, I'm not sure I don't think I disagree with him/her that this isn't an illogical position...

3. I think it's a symptom of listening to talk radio, personally. |
|
I've got friends and family members who refer to shouting matches as "debates". They think an "argument" is just a personal opinion, based on nothing and delivered at a high volume.

If somebody else is the one doing the sin, what business is it of yours? Isn't your god in the position of making that judgement?

why someone like you would care one way or the other. Isn't it your belief that god will punish sinners? So why get the government involved? The government is but a gnat on the head of a pin compared to god in his omnipotence. Let god be god, and let the rest of us alone.
Do you presume to do god's business?

Like homosexual "marriage"...we just need to shut up and take it?

First off, what exactly does the government have to do with regulating "sin", and
More importantly, what about those of us who don't agree with your view of what does/doesn't constitute a sin?
F'rinstance, ingesting pork, alcohol or caffeine are considered sins, as are pop music, divorce, eating at Red Lobster, football....
Who makes the calls?

18. I think you are forgetting one thing about born-agains |
|
Most have the impression that once you say the magic words "I accept Jesus Christ as my PERSONAL Saviour", they are quaranteed to go to Heaven regardless of subsequent behaviour.

20. That's one aspect that's pretty hard to forget |

The part I've yet to grok, though, is how they transform "I accept Jesus Christ as my PERSONAL Saviour" into "I have my own PERSONAL religion and everybody else has to live according to MY rules."

Do I sense a Cotton Mather nearby? Sin? Snakes in the garden, witches abounding spreading death and pestilence and famine throughout the realms!
You know, as soon as someone utters the word SIN, I shut off. You know at that point that there is no point in pressing on with the debate. The magical world view police are on the march and reason takes a back seat.

Methinks you've wandered onto the wrong board, Major.
Now, get yourself back to your job, which you have described in other posts as simply being a killing machine.
I guess that would all be killing in the name of Jesus, then?

Maybe he should try talking to a) an actual psychologist, or b) some of us who were reared by gay and lesbian parents about this.
But that might require pulling his head out of his ass first.

12. I Had Someone Tell Me |
|
After I threatened to move to Amsterdam if Bush got elected, a friend told me that I wouldn't like Amsterdam because a family member lived there a couple years ago and reported back that the government there goes through all the mail. She went on to report that the family member couldn't stand the government control there, and never appreciated American freedoms more than when she lived in Europe.
How does one argue with this level of ignorance?

They vote against their own interests because they don't want to see two guys get married?
I know one who's going to homeschool his kid, to keep him away from the "liberal influence." The next sentence: "I'm glad I got the second interview for this job opening, my unemployment is about to run out." I kid you not! :dunce:
Another one I know voted for Bush* because he didn't trust Kerry. Bush's* lies and deceptions have been well documented and confirmed, but the truth doesn't matter to these...people.
