Americans Are too Rich, Fat, and Lazy To Protect Democracy
I see some keep talking about when people are going to get angry enough to do something about all the crap being forced down our throats.

Unfortunately, as long as americans have their tv, beer and popcorn, they won't do anything.

Americans will sit in front of their tv and watch the next door neighbor's house burn down if they show it on the boob tube.

If they get tipped off in advance, they will call each other over and break out the beer and goodies. Have a party over it.

We have too many distractions in america. Even the poor here are "rich" in terms of distractions available to them.

We can be easily bribed by a two hundred dollar tax cut.

"I got mine, you get yours" is the mentality of america. As long as it doesn't happen to "me", everything is a-ok. We have no ability to empathize or sympathize.

2. I am sorry but Democracy ended a long time ago or in Nov 2000.
Depending on how you look at it. I don't think there is much left here to defend.

3. Got an action plan?
When leaders show someone where to show up and what to do? They might do it.

8. I posted a thread yesterday about this same thing
There are just too many "conveniences" for the average American to take great risks. What we have is increasingly more than the previous generations, and what we are willing to risk for our beliefs is increasingly less. I agree that TV, and internet are selling us false goals, and belief systems. That money and power provide all the happiness one could want and rocking the boat will only keeps us from this goal. We have become complacent complainers.

9. Oh, I think 49% of the population hating Bush's policies
is a bit higher than the number of Germans who opposed the NSDAP.

Of course, they knew how to boil a frog. Bushco has been incredibly clumsy in that regard, turning up the heat way too fast.

Of course, we know what it took to discredit the German majority. Let's hope it doesn't take the same here.

10. that's why its important to continue with this
My friend laughed at us and said "You can't have a revolution, you can't get your team away from the x-box" I admitted some truth to that but that us ol fogies are gonna lead the revolution and the x boxers would eventually join.
this is not something that will be over with this vote fraud. America is under attack from our own government and WE MUST stand for her and continue the resistance of a fascist state. Nor can we be a religious state. We must return the checks and balances of our governing system that our forefathers put into place and has worked so well for the US. We cannot let Bushco turn us into exactly what we are suppose to be "fighting" about. We cannot have Mullah Robertson and Aiyatolla (ok, can't spell)Bush. We must continue until all Americans see the truth and stand with us.

11. This is why I am secretly praying for a draft
Sadly, I think that people will only start protesting when the government turns off their TVs, shoves them off their couches, takes away their beer and potato chips...

...and makes them go fight a war in Iran.

I can hear it now: "What do you mean I have to go to boot camp instead of watch Temptation Island 14???? Hell, no!!!

What do you think? Post-Draft: The hardcore activist Democratic/Libertarian/Green conglomerate suddenly grows by 35 million, becomes the Demogreentarian-disgruntled reality television addicts Party, and takes the U.S. back from the fundies?

12. Speak for yourself.
I'm too poor, fat and tired to do much more.

I have kids to raise and am a paycheck away from the street. I can't afford to be in a General strike or get arrested at a protest. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
