House GOP to Change Leadership Rules For DeLay???
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, November 16, 2004; 3:55 PM

House Republicans plan to change their rules in order to allow members indicted by state prosecutors to remain in a leadership post, a move designed to benefit Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) in case he is charged by a Texas grand jury that has indicted three of his political associates, GOP leaders said today.

This is getting ridiculous, I'm sick of seeing all of the fuckin laws rewritten by the people breaking them! Delay is the most unethical bastard in Congress! Then we've got elections in the court room all over the country? The pathetic thing is, that there are actually candidates trying to get judges to NOT COUNT PEOPLES' VOTES!? Then there Sec. of State Jim Crow up in Ohio holding elections like it's the 1800s. I swear to God I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're in court right now trying to get the 3/5 rule re-enacted.

5. Here's the link....

I didn't see anything about DeLay's misappropriation of federal resources (Homeland Security) to chase down the Killer Bees Texas Legislators that left the state to avoid the special session.

7. The "Leadership Rules" are NOT laws!!
According to the Constitution, the Senate decides on it's own rules. These are not laws, and citizens are not required to honor them in any way, which is as moot point anyway, because these rules only specify Senatorial behavior and standards.

For example, remember the filibuster? If I'm not mistaken, there is no "filibuster law" that allows Senators to filibuster legislation. Instead, it's a rule of the Senate, and the filibuster can be eliminated by a majority vote in the Senate. However, before they can vote on it, they have to first withstand a filibuster. This is how the South managed to maintain segregation for decades.

In addition, IIRC, each party decides for itself how it will dish out leadership positions.

Sorry to sidestep, but I find that funny. :)

9. Understandable
but if you read Caro's "Master of the Senate" and saw how it was used to maintain segregation, you might not be as tickled.
