Here's where the Southern states rank out of the 50 states in Per Capita Income:

Virginia - 11th
Florida - 23rd
Georgia - 27th
Texas - 28th
Tennessee - 36th
North Carolina - 37th
Alabama - 40th
Kentucky - 41st
South Carolina - 42nd
Louisiana - 43rd
West Virginia - 48th
Arkansas -49th
Mississippi - 50th

1. Poverty and ignorance often go hand in hand
More affluent areas tend to have more college grads, etc... We need to find a way to educate the poorer states about what is in their best interest AND how they are being used by the Republican party.

2. Education doesn't work
The south is dead last in that too.

Remind me again why I refuse to leave my beautiful state to these damn right-wingers when I could be happy somewhere that is dark blue??

4. And VA is doing well only because so many DC govt workers
live and retire here. It sure ain't because the state is any less backward than the other southern states.

5. VA is definitely skewed higher by the DC metro area
I lived in North Carolina for 11 years and there's a thimble's worth of difference between it and Virginia.
