I've noticed something
My friends who know me as the addled A.D.D.er would be amused by my subject line alone!

However, that aside, I had already noticed the increase in freeper visits since the election. That isn't news. But have you guys noticed that there are huge numbers of like minded (to us) folks coming out of the woodworks since the election? These folks are posting some really impressive stuff with post numbers of under 100. I think it's really cool that so many of our own have found us in these last couple of weeks.

4. I think it may be because this internet
is working really well at bringing us together and that the liberal blogs and websites are all referencing each other.

I'm not sure how the other internets are working, but this one is doing a fine job. ;)

3. I've noticed really active trolls today alone
They are lost and looking for something to convince themselves that they did the right thing in voting for the Anti-christ. We need to show them the right(left) path and maybe even get some converts.

6. Um,
if they are looking for something to convince themselves that they did the right thing, wouldn't they more easily find that in freeperville?

5. Absolutely.
Many people see the disconnect between reality and what their hear on the corporate boradcast media. At some point, they start searching out sources that validate what they are experiencing. I know that's how I found this place a few years back.

And perhaps even some of the freeper's who come here to do battle end up staying once they open their minds to the truth.

Eventually, many of those that think they've 'won' will realize that the joke's on them....and they will be a very angry group of converts.

7. In all fairness...
I don't post much because I am at work. Also because with my measly 20 something posts, no one ever says anything nice to me, carries on anything interesting with me because I'm not worth the time.

Also, before the election I didn't have a lot of time to post because I was too busy actually campaigning (for Kerry). I made a jillion calls, worked at HeadQuarters, went to actions, and took care of my child. I'm still doing stuff to fight the system, and I'm not going to post a million "I agree!" posts to raise my worthiness in this forum! I don't have the time or patience!

So thanks for listening! :)

9. Yeah, it is hard getting any respect around here without the numbers
Luckily I post what I want, when I want and I don't worry about the reactions I get. My numbers were much, much lower before the election as I was also working at the campaign, went to actions, worked my fulltime job and made a stab at maintaining my relationships. Did better at some than others. After the fiasco that was Nov 2, I needed a lifeline and DU became that for me.

I'm here a lot lately.

I'm just thrilled to see so many new folks here too.

10. To all "newbies" WELCOME. Pull up a chair and sit a spell;
I guarantee your butt will get wider and your laundry will pile up, but hopefully we will all get through this together and be better people for it. You really are all welcome.

It's easy to fixate on the trolls, but there are also many new DUers posting impressive stuff. Good to remember that.

15. I absolutely agree.. ME TOOOOOOO!
would not have made it through the last month without this place to vent. To read and be encouraged. I felt like my heart was ripped open and someone poured the deepest sadness in the universe through my veins with no pain killers. Then I found out how to read and relate to all of you all on DU.

I telecommute. I live in Rural TX. I know hardly anyone and have this huge love for my nation. I'm scared about the future and feel frustrated about what to do about it.

I joined here, I joined my local Dem club. I started my own "get rid of Hate Radio" Campaign see thread..
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=1356110

Joined some other groups, signed some petitions, sent a pile of emails about hateradio to mailing lists. posted on blogs.

If not for DU and blogs I'd be here in the country in rural TX alone and at my total wits end thinking about the harm done to my beautiful nation, and my fellow lovely citizens as well as the citizens of the world. It would all be just too much to handle alone.

17. Another newbie checks in
Just wanted to check in so you would know I'm not a troll.

Found you guys from a linked post on Yahoo! messageboard. I find this so much better than reading Yahoo! Too much negativity there.

And keep your chins up, fellow "freedom fighters". Just remember we got through the McCarthy era, we got through the Nixon years, and the Reagan years, and by Goddess, somehow we'll get through this, too!

20. I live in a red state & I thought I was surrounded by Repugs...
until I checked my state's breakdown of votes. I was happy to discover that there are many more Democrats around me than previously thought.

You sound like a great person, juliagoolia. :)

24. Pied Piper here...
... and I've been a long (and I do mean LONG) time lurker. I grew up in uber-conservative GR, MI, and I felt like I just didn't fit in. I moved to Boston for grad school and fell in love with the place. Never left - that was 14 years ago...

My post count is low because my fellow DU'ers seem to say it all better than me. I just love this place - every day I learn new things, thanks to my DU colleagues. Needless to say, I'm armed with quite a bit of knowledge when I venture back to the Dark Side for the holidays. So, while I don't often post here, know that I'm taking this info into the hinterlands to make other people do some thinking.

Thanks to all of you!
