06 does not look good to me...
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 06:59 PM by BayCityProgressive
I am sorry maybe I am still just down about this year but 06 does not look good to me at all. I think Hillary will EASILY keep her seat against anyone who comes after her. However, If Feinstein retires I think Arnie would run and take her seat. Cantwell and Dayton are in HUGE HUGE trouble. Talent could be vulnerable but there are no prominent Dems to take him on. I think when Byrd goes it will be hard to keep that seat in Dem hadns, they are trending more and more GOP. We may be able to grab Nevada with Reid in the leadership. Tenn could be competitive if Ford runs.Michigan will be CLOSE with Stabenow, as will Wisconsin with Khol. I just think we have much more to defend than the GOP. I hope I am wrong but if we dip below 40 senate seats that would be a total fucking disaster!

1. Why are you looking to the future when we should
be expending all of our resources on the recount?

2. While I share your trepidation
I would like to make the point that it is just too far away at this point to get too pessimistic. Look at the 2002 midterms. As of August 2001, Republicans were in deep shit going into them. They lost Senate control, their president was pretty much useless, they were losing popularity fast. And then came September 11, Republicans played up people's fears, and those people then freaked out at the polls. My point is this: No one saw that coming - the climate changed fairly fast.

I am also cautious about the upcoming midterms, but I also realize that PLENTY can happen in the mean time.
