--U.S. Marines Rally Round Iraq Probe Comrade--

U.S. Marines rallied round a comrade under investigation for killing a wounded Iraqi during the offensive in Falluja, saying he was probably under combat stress in unpredictable, hair-trigger circumstances.

Marines interviewed on Tuesday said they didn't see the shooting as a scandal, rather the act of a comrade who faced intense pressure during the effort to quell the insurgency in the city.

"I can see why he would do it. He was probably running around being shot at for days on end in Falluja. There should be an investigation but they should look into the circumstances," said Lance Corporal Christopher Hanson.

"I would have shot the insurgent too. Two shots to the head," said Sergeant Nicholas Graham, 24, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. "You can't trust these people. He should not be investigated. He did nothing wrong."

<<<..."You can't trust these people"? then why are we 'liberating' them?

1. He was a kid whose face was still hurting from his minor wound
from a spent bullet the previous day who was looking for revenge.

He actually may have done a seriously wounded Iraqi a favor by finishing him off, but I doubt that was his intent.

War is an ugly business, and any man who wants one is a fool.

6. Given the proper circumstances... we can all mimick the monsters we first
install... then seek to overthrow.... when this man comes home, he will not be the same person he was... ever. His ghosts will haunt him to the ends of the earth.

I hope the person(s) responsible for the horrors of this unnecessary war get what they have coming to them.. I truly do.

Never forget that the inspectors were there... the Iraqis were cutting up over seventy (70) missiles that flew a little too far.... and our boy Saddam was writing romance novels. May he who launched this horror rue the day he decided to be a man by sending others to their wrongful deaths.

You can say what you want about the Iraqis defending their homeland, but if your mother/brother/daughter/son had died as a result of this illegal invasion... you'd be packing too... and not for small game. You'd be out to get a piece of the sob that killed your loved ones.. don't try to tell yourself any different.

Don't think so?? Read up on the War of Independance.... it's all there in living color.... what is old is new again.

4. He should never have
been sent back into action (the very next day) after going through a trumatic experience like that without some kind of downtime or professional help.

3. This is the reality of war.
The same held true for the massacre at My Lai. It is a war crime none the less. When your CIC was an AWOL chickenhawk, he has no understanding of what his decisions mean. He is more likely to challenge OBL's manliness for not coming to Iraq to face us. These atrocities are also the responsibility of the swift boat liars who denied that there were atrocities in VN and enabled this pos to lead this country down this dreadful road.

5. Silly me--- I'd like for CID to complete the investigation first.
I know it's silly of me, but I'd like to have all of the facts before convicting or acquitting this Marine.
