The fact that they are so close personally that they viewed kissing one another at a press conference as appropriate behavior suggests not only that they are a bit out of contact with reality, but also that Condi is way too close to provide any semblence of independent leadership at the State Department. At the very least, one has to wonder where her real loyalties lie-- with Bush personally or with the greater good of the nation?
