Hardee’s serves up 1,420-calorie burger
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 01:37 PM by kwyjibo
Fast-food giant skips diet craze, concocts fat-filled sandwich

The "Monster Thickburger" — two 1/3-pound slabs of Angus beef, four strips of bacon, three slices of cheese and mayonnaise on a buttered sesame seed bun — sells alone for $5.49, $7.09 with fries and a soda.

46. Doesn't do a DAMN thing for me, and I'M "obese".
That's awful. Almost as awful as your inference that all fat people need to do is "work on those Push-Aways" and we'll be thin again.

Hardee's food is shit. Serving up a pound of it won't maske it any tastier.

Jeebus, shades of Dilbert's "40,000 calorie shard-filled do-nut"...

58. don't stereotype please.
I am considered morbidly obese, at 6ft tall and just over 300 lbs. I don't eat fast food. I don't eat junk food and I don't drink sugar pop. In fact, lots of obese people don't. Food like this makes otherwise normal people become obese. But those that grew up fat, or already are don't USUALLY partake in such greasy grossness.
So please, think before you type.

40. There's also.....
I read last week about the "Big Cheesy Jabba" at Jabba Jaws in Louisiana.

http://netscape.digitalcity.com/neworleans/entertainment/venue.adp?sbid=105672429

Quote: "Jabba Jaws is one of the few places you can order your burger stuffed, battered and deep-fried. Their signature, the 'Big Cheesy Jabba' begins with a half pound of ground beef combined with four cheeses (American, cheddar, mozzarella and Swiss). The patty is battered and dunked in the fryer. Inside the burger the cheese melts, outside a signature crust forms. It arrives topped wit the world's largest onion ring, a tower of terror."

Yes, that's right. A deep-fried cheeseburger.

Lately I've been on a kick about not eating fast/highly processed McDeath style burgers, the sight of this greasy monstrosity certainly isn't going to get me on the take out path again ~__~ For 5.50 for the burger alone you might as well just get a jar of Crisco and inject in your ass, it'd be cheaper and save the same puprpose

59. I must admit, I love a good burger...
And in my opinion, Hardee's has vaulted over all other fast-food contenders here in NC after their burger makeover a year or two ago. Their relatively new "thickburgers" are freaking great, considering they can be handed to you from a drive-thru window.

It used to be that it was highly recommended not to go into a Hardee's after breakfast hours, because although they had by far the best fast-food breakfast stuff (particularly their biscuits!) their non-breakfast stuff was BAD. I mean, AWFUL. I would literally go hungry rather than eat at Hardee's for lunch or dinner a couple of years ago.

But no more! After Carl Jr.'s bought them out and re-vamped the burgers, IMHO they blow away all their fast-food competitors. Real Angus beef, nicely seasoned; good veggies for toppings; good buns; and they even wrap the burgers in paper so you don't mess your hands up too bad with the generously-applied condiments!

Every couple of weeks I have to indulge in a 1/3 lb. thickburger with their curly fries. True fast-food decadence, and darned good. I don't eat much of anything for breakfast or dinner on those days, but lunch is a real pleasure. I'm a Hardee's burger believer now!

Now, there's no way in the world I'd try to eat anything more than their 1/3 lb. burger; I thought the 2/3 lb. was silly (I'd never seen anyone order one), but this new "monster" thickburger is beyond ridiculous. That's fine; keep the 1/3 lb. on the menu, and I'll be a happy customer every couple of weeks.

Whew! Didn't mean to write so much about fast-food burgers. Well, they're good, folks. If you like burgers and you haven't been to Hardee's in years (can't blame you), stop in and try one. You'll be quite surprised.

(Not affiliated, just a customer)
