WANTED: 10 Starred users to support a Draft Discussion Group
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 07:39 PM by Nag Champa
Every time there is a draft-related posting here, it seems to get quite a few responses. What do you all think of asking the Mods for a Draft Discussion Group.

As fast as these posts move, most will be buried before many who are interested get a chance to see them. Would others be interested in having one place where we could share info with each other when we came across draft related info?

If you are interested and have any suggestions for the mission statement, or even just a request to have included in the mission statement, please post it. As I am new and unsure of what the mods will expect, any help would be appreciated. Otherwise, I will do my best and rework it as is required to get it launched.

Just a thought. Any takers?

1. Sounds good. I'm thinking of joining my local draft board.
I support your proposal.

6. Well, I'm fairly new here.
I'm not really sure how the Mods expect the mission statement to look. If enough people are interested, I will write one and work through the corrections if any are needed.

I was thinking of a very basic premise: News, sites, thoughts and other postings relating to a possible draft in the US. This would include possible or likely methods of conscription as well as ways people could avoid being conscripted if they desire to.

12. Welcome to DU and...
You can edit your original post to ask for ideas or just write what you have here in the form of a mission statement. It doesn't have to be long, but I guess it should say what the group will be doing.

Something like: The purpose of our group will be to discuss news, websites and information related to a possible draft in the United States. This would include possible or likely methods of conscription as well as ways people can avoid conscription, if they so desire.

21. Hey Nag...
Congratulations on your 10 posts. The mission statements I've seen are fairly simple, so don't sweat it too much. If you want help drafting one, feel free to PM me.

NGU.

3. I'd support it - I was thinking we should have a military/draft
etc forum - somewhere we could post the stories of the soldiers KIA/WIA, veteran's issues, draft stories, back-door draft stories., etc.

Thoughts?

4. Great idea.
It would be very nice to have all that info right in one place. I would support it as the mother of two draft age sons.

11. You've already done it.
If you support the idea... thats all that is needed right now.

Next step I'll write up a request and send it to the mods.

16. I would definitely like to participate
And once we're through this recount/ vote fraud exposure thing (which I'm spending virtually all my time on right now), I'd like very much to work rather actively on draft issues. I very, very much want to help save our young men and women from this illegal, immoral, unjustified and unjustifiable slaughterhouse called a war.

Thanks for thinking up the idea of having a Group dedicated to this issue.
